This role reports into the Chief Sustainability Officer.

Leadership objectives

  • Helps to ensure sustainability is integrated into strategic thinking – whether it be aligning with existing organizational strategy and policies, or driving new initiatives to reach maximum environmental, economical and social impact
  • Balances sustainability needs with business ambitions. Can help set a vision which the organization can rally around, uniting our approach to sustainability. Able to identify trade-offs which may result in sustainability being the primary outcome from specific activities.
  • Builds a strong network across the organization and manages sensitively various different stakeholders as well as different streams of interests, uniting projects and initiatives

Career Opportunities

  • You will lead the refinement of and help execute Group Sustainability policies, goals and priorities based on guidance given by the Chief Sustainability Officer working in close partnership with Roche Group Entities and Corporate Functions
  • You will lead the development of new sustainability targets and programmes co-created and/or aligned with key stakeholders
  • You will guide and assist the Roche Group Entities and Corporate Functions in their sustainability efforts from assessment to target setting and program development;

Who You Are
We’re looking for an experienced Sustainability strategy leader who has gained a good reputation in the field of sustainability and has experience in integrating sustainability in organizational strategy and developing sustainability policies and initiatives. You’re someone who can influence the organisation and further position sustainability internally, delivering a net positive impact for the organization and wider society.

You think strategically and you are a “System Thinker”. You bring along VACC attributes (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst), inspiring and motivating others and you are committed to work in a networked setting where teams are accountable to take decisions and make impact.

Qualifications And Experience

  • You are an inspiring and strong strategic thinker and have demonstrated success in developing sustainability policies and integrating sustainability in organizational strategy and initiatives
  • You combine a subject matter expertise (science or engineering background with strong quantitative and analytical skills) with 8+ years of proven experience in the field of sustainability
  • You have a deep understanding of the key sustainability issues and how they link to (long term) business value, innovation, digitization and transformation.
  • You have a proven record of delivering transformational consulting engagements around sustainability strategy. Prior consulting and/or healthcare industry experiences an advantage.
  • You are able to drive and support cultural and organisational changes and have a strong awareness of connecting the right people being a natural “networker”; You live and foster the Roche Operating Principles
  • You are experienced in working in an agile work environment and in managing highly matrixed teams and multiple stakeholders
  • You bring transformation and change management skills, seeking to understand different perspectives and needs, gain broad stakeholder buy-in, and co-creation
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and bring coaching and mentoring capabilities
  • You have strong overall communication skills in English, ideally also in German or French
