Mencap are recruiting for Support Workers with a Full UK Driving License across Leamington Spa on a permanent basis.

We have part time contracts available various hours from,15 – 35 hours. Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays. For this post you must be fully flexible available to work Monday – Sunday.

There will be a mixture of shift patterns from the hours between 7am – 10pm and a regular shift from 15.00-22.00 followed by a sleepin and then followed by 7.00-15.00.

You will be working at the Leamington spa area in the CV34, CV32 & CV31 post code.

The people you will be caring for all have different hobbies and interests and the right person for this role will hopefully enjoy trying new things and going out into the community… whether it be a morning down at the local ponds, fishing, a shopping trip into town, or a mini break away for a few days… no two days are the same!!

What does a Support Worker do?

Responsibilities

As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality. Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
  • Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & Social Inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day.This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
