UNOPS

The Support Services Assistant (Logistics) will work under the direct supervision of the Project Management Support Officer (PSO) while working closely with the Senior Project Manager, Dhaka as well as the UNOPS Procurement Team in Sri-Lanka. S/he will be responsible for the following key deliverables which can be expanded by the supervisor/project.

Logistics Management:

  • Assist the PSO in updating Logistics Plans for the procurement projects and take the responsibility of implementing the plans.

  • Be responsible for liaison and follow up with the suppliers in order to timely delivery of equipment/ goods as agreed in the UNOPS Purchase Order (PO).

  • Through market search Update the UNOPS roster of health procurement service providers in Bangladesh.

  • Liaison with the UNOPS Sri-lanka Procurement Team and provide routine support in different steps of procurement.

  • Work closely with DGHS and other UN agencies to facilitate timely custom clearances by DGHS for the internationally procured items.

  • In consultation with the PSO, make sure that the suppliers rightly & timely do the transportation, maintenance and safe & secure storage of all equipment after delivery in the port.

  • Be the focal point in the receipt of goods and equipment for the project and office, inspection and report preparation.

Travel/Transport Management:

  • Coordinate and process travel request as required for onward approval by the Senior Project Manager /Country Manager

  • Provide transportation services including client service, driver log, regular service maintenance, insurance and monitoring of consumption. Prompt reporting and investigation of vehicle accidents, damage, loss of theft

Operational Supports:

  • Support the PSO in organizing all payments related documents for the Emergency Health Procurement projects in a timely manner.

  • Provide entry in the One UNOPS Project (OUP) system and in UNOPS ERP in consultation with UNOPS Sri-lanka finance team. Raise requisition/Purchase Order in the system as a part of the procurement process.

  • Organize all supporting documents for audit and review purposes;

  • Manage Inventory of the projects and/or UNOPS Country Office if necessary.

Knowledge Management:

  • Participation in the training events for the programme, operations and projects personnel on logistics and transport related subjects.

  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice **
