What To Expect

  • You’ll be part of the EMEA Supplier Industrialization Engineering team, belonging to the greater European Purchasing organization. This team serves a vital function in the development of critical components/materials and the associated qualification activities at local EU suppliers for new product introduction as well as problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives with our supplier network. Working directly with the responsible SIE for the assigned commodity fields Battery Cell materials, you’ll have the unique opportunity to learn the automotive processes involved in successfully approving procured materials for production use as well as systematically troubleshooting problems experienced on the Tesla production line due to procured materials. You’ll therefore be a central Tesla face working directly with our supplier network as well as an internal Supply Chain face working in Simultaneous Engineering (SE) cross-functional teams involving Materials Engineering, Production, Material Planning functions. There will also be the opportunity for leadership of a high visibility internal continuous improvement project within this commodity field. This role therefore requires excellent communication with internal and external teams, travel to suppliers across Europe and a high degree of ownership and responsibility to assure the Supply Chain goal of delivering on time quantities of high-quality materials into Tesla’s production process at GigaBerlin.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn the Tesla Qualification Process for release and approval of newly procured materials,
  • Learn the Tesla process for management of supplier complaints due to problems experienced with procured materials in Tesla production,
  • Learn the areas of material application within Tesla production and manage the day-to-day overseeing of tasks (production queries, material complaints) from certain shops of the factory for already released and in-use materials,
  • Manage ongoing new product introduction of chemical materials used in the start-up and ramp of an upcoming factory shop,
  • Lead an internal Continuous Improvement Project within this commodity field which involves cross-functional collaboration with Logistics and Production at GigaBerlin as well as abroad Tesla production sites.

What You’ll Bring

  • Studying/recent graduated (6 months from graduation date) within the field of Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain Ops, and/or Manufacturing (battery related).
  • Area of study focused on Battery Cells and/or Materials,
  • Previous internship experience within automotive advantageous,
  • Good English (C1); German additionally advantageous,
  • Capable of working in an extremely fast paced and always changing environment,
  • Analytical mindset, problem-solving oriented and a strong team player,
  • Willingness to travel within Europe on short notice, up to 30 – 40% may be required.
