Jouri Research & Consultancy

Jouri for Research and Consulting (Jouri) was established by a dedicated professional with personal experience in conflict-affected areas. Driven by a deep passion for amplifying the narratives of communities grappling with conflict and extreme poverty, the founder aimed to provide them with a platform to voice their experiences. This commitment reflects Jouri’s mission to bring about more meaningful and impactful positive change in the lives of those facing challenging circumstances.

Jouri is a dynamic and independent research and evaluation consultancy. Jouri promotes inclusive research and community ownership of data. It’s core services include monitoring and evaluation, research and analysis, programme design and implementation, and capacity-building. Registered in Turkey and Geneva, our reach extends far beyond these borders. While we have a robust presence in the Middle East, with active engagements in Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, and Jordan, our influence extends even further, including a strong commitment to Ukraine. Our operations in each region are facilitated through a network of national consultants, sister organisations and staff with proven field experience, earning trust within diverse local communities.

Jouri excels in the remote management of research and data collection, particularly in the challenging context of conflict settings. Embracing a hybrid model, we seamlessly integrate international technical expertise with intimate local knowledge. This unique approach not only fosters an effective strategy for inclusive and empowering development but also positions Jouri as a leader in navigating the complexities of research in conflict zones. We recognise that a harmonious blend of global insights and on-the-ground understanding is essential for development studies to be truly relevant, meaningful, and impactful, especially in conflict-ridden areas.

The firm draws on innovative theories and practices to assess the performance of organisations and programmes in the following areas: i) humanitarian aid and peacebuilding; ii) governance, security, justice, and human rights; iii) gender equality; iv) education; v) livelihoods, and employability; vi) disaster risk reduction; vii) WASH and Health, and viii) protection and shelter. The consultancy has developed frameworks, protocols and methods to ensure high-quality data collection and results evidence in areas where access is challenging. This requires new approaches to be effective and includes researcher and M&E training, data capture, data safe storage, analysis, and risk management (including security, reputational and financial etc..), as well as developing strategic M&E and research frameworks.
