Basic Purpose

Software Asset Management (SAM) is a team within the Information Services Department and part of the ISD Financial Services branch. SAM’s mission is to support NFCU’s vision of being the one stop for all of its members’ financial needs by being good stewards of NFCU’s software funds. This is accomplished by providing information on cost controls, identifying ownership, and managing the data of all Software Assets from planning through decommission. Goals of Software Asset Management include maintaining compliance with vendors and contractual agreements and optimizing spend. The SAM team provides valuable software license and contractual information to leadership and internal business partners to support NFCU strategies for planning and budgeting software growth.

We are looking for a driven individual with understanding of technical concepts, which would relate to all types of vendor software and basic accounting concepts. Our ideal candidate would also have some experience in predictive modeling with a strong ability to think on their feet and outside of the box. The intern would learn about our basic daily functions then use this knowledge with their modeling experience to create a baseline financial forecast trend report. This intern should be trustworthy and open to feedback and can expect to work in a collaborative environment with a lot of team support.

Areas of focus for the internship will include assisting with day-to-day record input and ticketing processes, monthly report creation, and support on special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Record new software assets as they are requested and purchased
  • Perform software usage and compliance validation via the working of tickets
  • Review software contracts and enter required information into the software system
  • Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about financial forecasting

as it relates to contracts and historic software usage

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate or higher degree from an accredited college/university
  • An individual in their final year of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a management

information systems or other technical field

  • Working knowledge of basic data analytics tools such as Excel
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to respond to requests effectively

and efficiently

  • Experience with data analytics and working with medium to large data sets
  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
  • Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM

Salary Range: $15.00 – $30.10 hourly

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. Within this range, pay will be determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, location, and market position.
