Come join our team for the summer! Joining the Investment Operation’s Business Automation Team (BAT) will allow you to use technology and creativity to solve business problems, identify opportunities for process enhancements and create efficiencies. BAT is where technology and entrepreneurial mindsets meet to deliver innovative business solutions. The team follows an Agile Scrum operating model and works under a high level of independence. You will be able to work with an experienced, dynamic and self-driven group of people who are defining the role of Citizen Developers. You’ll contribute ideas and explore new technology while gaining excellent insights into our business. The internship project will include the use of Python to streamline the flow of data across several systems, create scalable processes and automate complex custom requests.
Our ten-week internship program is designed to provide valuable career experience for students who wish to apply their education and skills in a global fixed-income-oriented work environment. This is an immersive program that mirrors the responsibilities of an early career position within the organization. You will receive on-the-job training as well as technical and business-oriented education. As a summer intern at Western Asset, you will be performing real work that contributes significantly to the success of the organization.
What You Will Do
- Apply your technical skills to enhance business processes while working with internal customers to conduct “in-take” interviews
- Design, reengineer and develop code to optimized operational workflows while combining business expertise and technology to manage business projects including problem-framing, teamwork, project management and communication
- Apply analytical skills to design and reengineer core business processes; the team supports the Investment Operations department in every step of the investment process
- Engage in a continuous process to optimize existing processes, develop new data analytics tools and identify new business opportunities
- Partner with business peers to redesign existing processes and develop new process solutions
- Liaise with the department to democratize the adoption of new applications and implement in accordance to proper checks and controls
What You Will Bring
- You are an undergraduate or graduate level student from a finance, business administration, Computer Science or a related major with a proven record of academic excellence and achievement
- Experience in business analytics and data visualization
- Strong technical and code development expertise
- Creativity and Curiosity
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
