Basic Purpose
The purpose of the Enterprise Mail Processing Summer Intern is to prepare Interns for a potential full-time role at Navy Federal Credit Union. Intern roles will provide valuable work experience and insight into the financial industry by providing administrative support in day-to-day operations. Interns will utilize and further develop soft skills, business and or analytical knowledge and creative problem-solving abilities. The role will provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies, and procedures. Interns will participate in a collaborative, team driven network, and interact with multiple departments.
Joining This Team Will Allow You To Gain Exposure In The Following Areas, Which Will Will Also Add Value With An Enterprise Wide Vision In Addressing Disaster Recovery And Business Continuity Between Campuses
- Return Mail Process
- Inputting data into spreadsheets and organizing them in a strategic format to be able
to analyze and improve production processes
- Mapping, flow charting, and improvement in efficiencies and production in different
sections within the Mail Operations Section

Responsibilities
- Perform general industry related tasks; maintain and organize files, photocopy, etc.
as needed
- Assist in the collection and preparation of data
- Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as priority
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support
- Operate both sorting and inserting equipment
- Assist in determining proper equipment configuration and operating procedures according
to envelope size, number of inserts, etc.
- Assist in the Set-up and operation of automated equipment
- Log registered and certified mail
- Provide additional support for other Mail Operations Section projects
- Assist staff in recording and preparing first and third-class mail reports to qualify for
Postal Service discounts
- Assist in maintaining and stock essential materials and supplies
- Assist in the operation of Mail Center metering machines
- Assist in ensuring all documents to be processed are properly positioned and machine
readable
- Assist staff in examining mail to ensure that required enclosures are included in
envelopes and that mailings are complete
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university
- Must be flexible and willing to multitask
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Basic research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Basic skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Ability to adapt to new technologies
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Basic word processing and spreadsheet software skills
- Basic organizational, planning and time management skills
- Desired – Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM (Subject to change based on business need)

Salary Range: $15.00 – $30.10 Hourly
Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. Within this range, pay will be determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, location, and market position.
