Divisional Background:

The Charitable Giving (CG) division engages Catholics in the United States and others of goodwill who share in the Church’s “service of charity” to people around the world. The division serves approximately 300,000 active donors who have given within the past 12 months, over 90% of whom are Catholic, as they live their faith in solidarity with more than 100 million of their most vulnerable sisters and brothers in more than 100 countries throughout the world.

In alignment with the agency strategy and resource mobilization efforts, Charitable Giving has three key objectives in its work with private donors:

  • Achieve operational excellence.
  • Deepen donor relationships.
  • Cultivate future generations of donors.

Charitable Giving is composed of four departments working together to accomplish these objectives: Donor Services, Hispanic Development, Individual Giving, and Leadership Giving.​​​​​​​

The Strategy & Organizational Development Senior Advisor plays a leadership role within the Charitable Giving division, which aims to expand and diversify resource mobilization through increasing private revenue while developing strategic, systematic, and personal relationships with donors and U.S. constituents.

Purpose:

Working within the Strategy & Organizational Development Senior Advisor, the Summer Hire will support Strategy & Organizational Development work that enables Charitable Giving and CRS to achieve its strategic outcomes. Specifically, the Summer Hire will assist with a variety of tasks to expand and diversify resource mobilization for CRS and advance Charitable Giving’s work on advancing Charitable Giving’s strategic action plan. Through this fulltime all-remote position, the Summer Hire will have an opportunity to get to know the agency, explore various responsibilities, and assist in enhancing a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Strategy & Organizational Development

  • Assist with two communities of practice in Resource Mobilization for CRS and Respect, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (REDI) for the Charitable Giving division
    • Support the kick-off phase of the Resource Mobilization Community of Practice by coordinating the knowledge management and learning (KML) activities
    • Assist with market research conducted by the REDI Community of Practice in Charitable Giving on diversifying our donor database
  • Assist with implementing the Charitable Giving strategic Action Plan, to include planning and reporting activities
  • Curate the Charitable Giving Strategy & Organizational Development internal communications page on SharePoint (MyCRS)
  • Participate in regular staff and strategic planning meetings that can include cross-divisional planning, collaboration, and learning opportunities with Marketing & Communications, Mission & Mobilization, and other divisions across CRS

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree program enrollment, preferred
  • Ability to work remotely 35 hours per week
  • Demonstrated interest in non-profit management, business, organizational development, international development, or another related field.
  • Desire to learn strategic planning and strategy development as well as capacity strengthening, partnership and organizational development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Proven Microsoft Office skills and expert use of various web-based applications, and an eagerness to learn new software applications
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic Relief Services.
