Basic Purpose
Procurement & Vendor Management (P&VM) aligns Navy Federal’s procurement strategy and execution with operational, financial, and strategic priorities. P&VM leads Navy Federal’s efforts in sourcing, acquisition planning, contract negotiations, contract administration, and holistic vendor management, including third-party risk management, to ensure operational requirements are satisfied and risks are properly managed. We strive to deliver in a timely manner and maximize value on behalf of our internal customers and members to reach enterprise strategic goals. We also work with business units to buy, lease, and sell personal and real property.
The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention for this program is to hire interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for an internship, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date after the final day of the summer internship (December 2023 or later).
Responsibilities
Potential Project:
Develop framework for Value Added Reseller Program, which will include process and procedure development, rationalization of our VAR supplier base and detailed spend analysis. The Summer Associate will need to identify key KPIs in order to measure success of participants in the Program.
12-week Plan
- Analyze available spend information to identify trends
- Work with Sourcing Managers to identify opportunities to leverage spend data
- Propose process changes to improve analytics regarding spend
- Define and implement a process to identify Key VARs, the categories will be primary and supplemental VARs
- Report back on the outcome, with proposed next steps
- As time permits, assist in the next steps planning and implementation activities
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an MBA in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering (with focus on supply chain/business) or other related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills – comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
- Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers
- Strong knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task
Experience: 5 years of previous Supply Chain Management experience, pursuit of an MBA with a concentration in Supply Chain, Operations, Data Analytics, or other related field
Business Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter / self-directed
- Understanding of general Information Technology concepts
- Experience with business process definition and optimization
- Strong analytical skills with experience creating reports and analyses
- High level proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Data Analytics tools
Technical Skills Preferred (as Many Of The Following)
- Thorough understanding of Supply Chain with a strong emphasis in strategic sourcing and data analytics
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience with SQL, Reporting and Analytic tools
- Previous experience in articulating an idea and influencing cross functional senior leadership for buy in
- Experience in Strategic Sourcing or Category Management a plus

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.
Salary Range: $41.00 – $46.00 hourly
