Basic Purpose

The Operations Strategic Support Team is a team within the Mortgage Loan Operations branch of Real Estate Lending. The Operations Strategic Support Team’s focus is to provide direct operational and strategic support to the executive leadership of the four branches within Mortgage Loan Operations: Processing, Closing, Admin, and Resolutions. The team’s primary responsibilities are to streamline processes, increase business efficiency, and drive exceptional organizational performance. In addition, the team is responsible for departmental strategy development, strategy alignment and management, and providing direct SME support for projects, process improvement and automation efforts, and change management. They work closely with key business partners to include Workforce Optimization, Product and Portfolio Management, Information Services, and the Real Estate Lending Innovation branch.

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern will report to leadership at our Pensacola, FL campus. They will become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of the team. The project the Summer Associate will be leading will be a process improvement effort in Mortgage Processing concentrating on the First Mortgage Purchase loan cycle. The Summer Associate will be responsible for creating an agile process for the collection and analysis of data related to the purchase loan cycle process to identify trends and areas of opportunity for enhancement and automation. Working closely with the Real Estate Lending Analytics team, they will be responsible for defining and creating metrics to measure and track implemented solutions with an end goal of reducing cycle time while maintaining exceptional member satisfaction. The Summer Associate will be responsible for making strong data-driven recommendations that they will present to influence key decision makers up to and including senior executives.

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.

Responsibilities

  • Develop action plans for conducting internal analyses and collaborate with business partners to identify root causes for operational gaps and establish solutions
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis using analytical techniques, tools, models, simulation, etc.
  • Utilize performance measurements and indicators to identify areas for improvement; develop process improvement plans for each performance indicator or area identified
  • Ensure effective initiative management from inception through implementation
  • Provide strategic analysis, recommendations, and help influence key decisions by senior department leadership regarding technology and financial market trends, and competitive analysis regarding identification of the department’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
  • Develop and present proposal on findings from analysis and research to management up to and including senior executives

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business Administration or other related degree
  • Effective skill in collaborating across organizational boundaries and building partnerships across various functions
  • Effective skill identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions
  • Experience in leading projects and/or initiatives of small to medium scope
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Comfort working with large datasets and telling stories with data
  • Ability to work independently and think outside of the box
  • Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 – $46.00 hourly
