Basic Purpose
Segmentation Strategy is a team of Data Scientists with the skill, expertise and infrastructure to mine big data to detect, decipher, and predict consumer needs. We combine analytics with a lot of creativity to untangle the data hairball to reveal rich customer narratives.
Our activities include building machine learning models to predict the right products for the right customer, segmenting customers into groups based on their needs and behaviors, forecasting business metrics for planning, and analyzing unstructured data/text to hear the voice of our customers.
The ideal Summer Associate will be a passionate and curious individual with a combination of problem solving and storytelling-skills and one who would love the team and its approach to solving problems that makes Marketing fun. Responsibilities will include collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data and trends to identify marketing opportunities, create and prioritize actionable recommendations and produce a compelling narrative to influence stake holders. Areas of opportunities include analyzing new machine learning capabilities in our marketing automation tool, understanding customer loyalty through their behaviors, analyzing customer calls to understand their pain points, and discovering strategic opportunities.
The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.
Responsibilities
- Assess the marketing landscape to identify best practices, shifting trends, and areas of opportunity
- Analyze member data to identify opportunities to better understand and predict customer needs and behaviors
- Analyze available machine learning capabilities that can enable better personalization for customers
- Develop and prioritize recommendations for strategic initiatives
- Develop and present analytic findings stakeholders including senior executives
- Become acquainted with the functioning of the team
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or other related degree
- Experience with data extraction/wrangling
- Experience using analytic tools such as: PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, R, Python, PySpark
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Comfort working with large datasets and telling stories with data
- Ability to work independently and think outside of the box
- Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills
- Basic knowledge of marketing a plus

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.
Salary Range: $41.00 – $46.00 hourly
Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. Within this range, pay will be determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, location, and market position.
