SUMMARY STATEMENT OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Director of Peer Support the Substance Abuse Peer Recovery Specialist (“SA”) provides outreach and support to clients with substance abuse or co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness in Loudoun County and facilitates recovery groups. This position also provides information on the recovery process and will promote opportunities to enhance the ability of clients served to move into recovery. We are accepting applications for a Part – Time Peer Specialist for this community-based role in Loudoun County, VA. SCHEDULE/ LOCATION /SALARY: Full-Time Monday-Friday 8 am- 5pm (20hours/week) Oakton, VA. $20.00/Hr. estimated salary based on qualifications and related experience RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides outreach and support to clients who are 18+ years old diagnosed with substance abuse or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders; Assist in community integration and community based resources, such as transportation, housing,and employment; Facilitates and/or co-facilitates recovery oriented groups and self-directed recovery/wellness plans (such as WRAP), Provides information on the recovery process, relating as appropriate, personal recovery experience; Maintain documentation of each peer contact; and Will promote opportunities to enhance the ability of clients to self-advocate for services needed and move into recovery. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; some college a plus. Peer Support Specialist Certification (CPS) or Certified Recovery Action Plan facilitator (WRAP) is a plus; Must be a person with lived experience (past or present) of substance use or co-occurring with mental health disorder; Valid driver’s license with good driving record. Must have a vehicle or access to a vehicle; Strong communication skills; and Must be a self-starter who possesses strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Amount of Travel and any other Special Conditions or Requirements : Use of personal vehicle to travel within service delivery area (Loudoun County).
