About the position:

This position is part of the malaria group in the Global and Tropical Health Division at Menzies. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators in Indonesia, Burnet (Melbourne) and MMV on a 4-year Unitaid funded project to strengthen malaria case management in Indonesia. The project will work with Indonesian partners to generate evidence on the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of new tools and treatment strategies for P. vivax malaria, that will inform changes in national policy and practice.

The Study Lead will:

The successful candidate will work closely with consortium partners and study teams, based in multiple locations in Indonesia to ensure technical oversight of activities and information flow that will support all of the project aims. This role will directly oversee the development, implementation, and integration of all the study activities, supporting field staff, compliance with regulatory requirements, data management and analysis/reporting.

The Study Lead will be a talented and highly motivated senior researcher or public health/infectious diseases clinician with experience in public health, clinical trials, infectious disease epidemiology and/or surveillance. There will be a need to implement quality data management systems and conduct independent epidemiological analysis and reporting and provide ongoing technical advice. There will also be a requirement to contribute to ongoing development and review relevant training programs in consultation with relevant stakeholders. This position will also be expected to engage and maintain relationships with country partners, attend and participate in working group meetings, liaising with the PAVE Global Study Team to ensure the Indonesian study aligns on a global basis. The location for this role is negotiable.

What you will bring to the role:

You will have a recognised Postgraduate qualification (PhD or MPH) relevant to the field of public health, clinical trials, surveillance and/or epidemiological research and demonstrated experience of scientific methods including literature review, study design, study/trial monitoring, writing of reports/publications, data management and regulatory compliance with the ability to analyse, interpret, and present complex and large data sets.

You will also have the ability to undertake research in a cross-cultural context and be able to undertake work in a professional, ethical, flexible and culturally sensitive manner and have a track record of publishing and presenting research results.

It is a requirement of this role for international travel several times pre year pending COVID-19 travel restrictions.

What we offer:

· 6 weeks annual leave

· Option to increase super to 14%

· Attractive salary package including superannuation and salary packaging benefits $147,277 – $167,868 per annum, pro-rata (comprising a gross salary of $119,285 – $136,302).
