Student Resiliency Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Student Resiliency and Wellbeing, working collaboratively with all departments within Student Life, and establishing strong connections throughout the University, the Student Resiliency Coordinator serves a critical role in the comprehensive success of Rowan University students.

Specifically, the Student Resiliency Coordinator works directly with students on non-clinical matters which could be (or become) barriers to their graduation and/or retention. Examples include, but are not limited to, academic skill development, behavioral concerns, relationship conflicts, personality and social adjustment matters, self-esteem concerns, social development and norming, campus engagement, leadership development, physical health and nutrition, and substance abuse.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive management of a caseload as assigned by the Director or designee.
  • Conduct intake, assessment, referrals for identified students.
  • Work flexibly with identified students to ensure proper access to care/services/support.
  • Assist students with focusing upon future-based solutions to obstacles.
  • Meet with students on a regular and as-needed basis.
  • Create detailed documentation of student concerns and progress.
  • Help students navigate University processes.
  • Serve as a member of the CARES Team.
  • Establish a strong understanding of University policies and procedures.
  • Develop an impeccable network of collaborative relationships within Student Life, the University as a whole, and the surrounding community to effectively assist and refer students.
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality while remaining in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Carry out special projects as directed by the Director or designee.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with one (1) year of professional experience (preferably in higher education)
  • Knowledge of current regulations relevant to work in higher education i.e., Title II, III & IX, FERPA, HIPAA
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a diverse caseload
  • Ability to work nights and weekends (to include non-traditional hours)
  • Demonstrated interest in and experience working with college students including diverse college student populations
  • Experience in crisis assessment and intervention
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between individuals in need and available on /off campus support services
  • Ability to establish rapport with college aged individuals
  • Ability to maintain timely and detailed records of student interactions

Preferred Qualification

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, higher education, social work, or related field
