This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Structural Engineering Intern for our Buildings group in Chicago, IL office for Summer 2023 with the option to continue during the school year.

Your Impact

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
  • Assist in design using various types of CADD design software
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis
  • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Current standing as a Rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering (or related) Undergraduate or Graduate program
  • Experience with basic computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Self-motivated with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must have completed basic foundational courses: Intro to Engineering and Structural Design and Analysis courses
  • Interest in engineering of building’s structures
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Local candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework
  • Experience with Revit
  • Completed Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Design, Prestressed Concrete Design, and Steel Design courses
