How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

Working across City Strategy and the organisation, the Strategic Planning Officer supports the development and coordination of new and revised strategies. The Strategic Planning Officer contributes to strategies, masterplans, structure plans, heritage reviews, planning policy and other projects that shape the city.

The broad purpose of this role is to provide high quality professional strategic planning expertise to give effect to Council’s goals for the municipality’s development.

What You Will Bring… (Key Selection Criteria)

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in the area of a planning, built environment, design profession and/or a closely related field
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-functional project team in a multi-function branch
  • High level computer literacy, including proficient in the use and application of the Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), producing maps, plans and graphics using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent and using online social, engagement and communication media
  • Ability to use and apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and ability to translate requirements between technical experts and Urban Strategy
  • Ability to synthesise data outputs into meaningful and useful information
