About this opportunity**

The British Red Cross is looking for a strategic communications expert who can help to set, guide, co-ordinate and report on communications activity across the organisation – ensuring that everything we do is audience led and integrated.

As Strategic Communications Planning Manager, you’ll manage the forums and processes through which all cross-organisational public engagement activity is prioritised, pr oviding expert advice to ensure the plans drive forward our organisational ambitions, while driving the planning and prioritisation of communications and advocacy activity, working with the wider Strategic Communications team to ensure that it engages all of our priority audiences and is fully integrated across channels and teams.

You’ll work with the Directorate Management team to set and report against evidence based KPIs, which allows the directorate to measure success in a consistent and meaningful way and which facilitates a culture of continuous improvement, collaborating across directorates to ensure that we identify and set shared KPIs where relevant.

Working with stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll ensure that requests for communications support meet our organisational standards and align with the wider plan, providing support and advice that helps to improve the quality of our communications and challenge where these standards may no t be met and that briefs are communicated and developed via stakeholders within timescales that allow the organisation to work at pace, deliver high quality outputs and manage resources effectively

This role might be for you if…

  • You have experience of managing communications projects from inception to evaluation, including planning and budgeting
  • You can demonstrate significant experience and continual learning in the communications field
  • You have excellent knowledge of strategic planning, particularly within communications
  • You display excellent written and verbal English skills, along with first class attention to detail and prioritisation and time management skills
  • You’re fully IT literate and comfortable utilising MS Office packages
  • You have knowledge of operating models for communications support within large, complex organisations
  • If you have experience working within the charity sector this will be a significant advantage
