Given Trocaire’s investment in both medical and non-medical equipment at field bases, the position of Storekeeper at district level is being created to ensure proper and timely management of supply chain at the district facility level. The role is vital for ensuring safe, transparent, and efficient management of the different field supplies, stocks and general warehouse management.

The Storekeeper is responsible for general and department-specific, routine, daily store activities, including processing postings, supply receipt and distribution, carry out inventories and inventory control activities.

Storekeeper is also responsible for conducting an inspection on the receipt of delivery from warehouse to verify quantity of materials and equipment received against specifications and units ordered.

The role of the holder of this position to ensure that he/she prepares and maintains a variety of records related to the organization’s store activities and assist in keeping the assigned facility clean and orderly

Field Logistics officer, Gedo region – with daily coordination with Field logistics officer, Logistics Coordinator and other Program Support and Administration Officers in Dollow/Belet Hawa/Luuq/Garbaharey

  • Ensure all goods received are supported with relevant documents for ease tracking, reporting and are stored by donor.
  • Generate monthly reports and share with logistics officer, Operations Manager and programs for review.
  • Flag all near expiry drugs and share with logistics officer and program lead.
  • Carry out random spot checks on key supplies in stocks and at service points.
  • Advise on storage capacity of stores regarding program supplies depending on space available.
  • Receive stocks and other supplies from central warehouse and ensure easy identification and verification, handling, and storage.
  • Ensure proper storage of supplies and recommend warehouse management best practices.
  • Maintain up to date stock cards and digital records for all supplies in the stores at district level.
  • Ensure accuracy of the facility’s assets inventory system by updating records of physical inventory totals, receipts, and adjustments.
  • Keep up to date record of receipts, records and stocks released from the store.
  • Maintain cleanliness of stores all times with regular fumigation if need be.
  • Ensure availability of waybills at facility level wherever required
  • Maintain a high ethical relationships with program teams and partners.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Working with PSAOs to provide timely support to programs.
  • Prepare monthly status report on all supplies including stocks of medicine, nutrition, non-medical supplies, and medical equipment in his/her custody.
  • Identify and share reports on expired/obsolete supplies with Field logistics officer and operations manager for possible disposal.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to read and write Somali and English
  • Third level qualification in supply chain management
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
  • Independently motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of proper bookkeeping, inventory management, storekeeping, and general warehousing
  • Fluency in Somali language
  • High level of reliability, integrity, and honesty
  • The candidate must be a resident of the work location.
