Background Information – Job-specific

The vision of the Stop TB Partnership is to realize the goal of elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB by ensuring that every person with TB has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and cure; stopping transmission of TB; reducing the inequitable social and economic toll of TB; and developing and implementing new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic tools and strategies.

The Stop Partnership is uniquely positioned to support the development and further implementation by partners of the current and future Global Plan, acting as a coordinator and catalyst for the range of partners engaged in the fight against TB.

Functional Responsibilities

The Director will report to the Executive Director (ED) of the Stop TB Partnership, who leads the Secretariat and is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Global Plan to End TB and the Operational Strategy approved by the Stop TB Partnership Board, and represents the Stop TB Partnership globally.

The key functions expected are related to:

  1. Strategic management

  2. Day to day management of the Secretariat

  3. Alliance building, networking and stakeholder management

  4. Resource mobilization and management

  5. Programme management and quality assurance

  6. Knowledge management and innovation

Education Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in one or more of the following disciplines: human development, social sciences, international development, public health, management, public administration, business administration, political sciences or related fields.

Professional Experience Requirements

A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience that combines strategic and managerial leadership in international development, administration, business management, planning and operations.
Relevant professional experience must include at least 10 years of international exposure.
Experience in programme/project/portfolio management, operations, and building and strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships is required.
Strong management skills with experience in guiding teams through transition (change management/organizational change expertise) is required.
Demonstrable success in fundraising and budget management is a strong asset.

Language Requirements

Full working knowledge of English is essential (fluency).

Knowledge of another official UN language, particularly French, is an asset.

Contract type, level and duration

Contract type: Fixed-term Appointment, UN Staff contract
Contract level: P6 (ICS-13)
Contract duration: Initial appointment valid for 12 months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability
