Background

The Staff Training Advisor is an integral part of t CRS’ Mission and Mobilization division, seeking to build a movement of millions in support of CRS. This position is part of the Strategy and Operations (S&O) team, which increases operational excellence in M2 to maximize impact. The S&O team will accomplish this by enabling the division to establish a clear and aspirational strategy and roadmap for the division’s key initiatives, operational standard s, clear and streamlined business processes, communications and collaboration, while providing support for staff to access appropriate training and resources to develop the competencies, skill sets and knowledge to excel in their roles.

Job Summary

The Staff Training Advisor is an integral part of the CRS Mission & Mobilization (M2) division and the S&O Team. The Staff Training Advisor is a single contributor role responsible for leading, developing, and implementing comprehensive training and development strategies and plans to ensure that M2 staff understand and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors needed to excel in their roles.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify and curate a set of competencies and capabilities (knowledge, skills, and behaviors) that are needed for M2 staff to succeed in their roles, based on analysis of input from the M2 Leadership team and Global People Resources (GPR) Talent team.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive training strategy for M2 based on competencies and capabilities.
  • Develop and assemble creative and impactful learning resources and events that ensure M2 staff have up-to-date information regarding United States Government (USG) policies and decisions that affect annual campaign issues.
  • Create training and learning events for M2 staff to strengthen capacity of Chapter partners to achieve greater success in advocacy and fundraising
  • Lead M2 trainings and learning strategy, so all events are effectively communicated and coordinated, that participation is inclusive, and that funding and approach are consistent across M2.
  • Establish, maintain and align a calendar / tracking system / knowledge management platform for all training / career development events and activities in accordance with strategic divisional priorities and staff capacity.
  • Strategically align events and activities in the division to ensure success of divisional goals
  • Initiate, lead, drive and maintain relationships with other knowledge management and talent management staff to align efforts with agency initiatives and curriculum
  • Design, organize and facilitate speaking events with internal and external subject matter experts
  • Facilitate key departmental and team meetings, including but not limited to leadership meetings, all staff gatherings and other cross-departmental meetings.
  • Ensure all M2 training and learning events are based on adult learning best practices, and are measured for impact and effectiveness, in coordination with GPR.
  • Curate and develop M2-related learning resources on CRSLearns, including playlists, ensuring that content is up-to-date, relevant, and easy for staff to find
  • Ensure that all new M2 staff are properly onboarded and oriented through leading, developing, and managing the M2 standardized onboarding program, including strengthening capacity of M2 supervisors to plat their role in onboarding.
  • Support leadership and supervisors in professional development programming as part of training and staff engagement strategy.
  • Lead process of analyzing staff engagement data to make recommendations to leadership and implement for M2 annual engagement plans.
  • Lead and organize staff engagement activities and events for the division as well as cross-divisional staff engagement efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, education, human development, social work or relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree in business, education, organizational learning, or related field.
  • Minimum five years’ professional experience, including organizing conferences, trainings, workshops, teaching, and/or learning events.
  • Previous experience in designing and facilitating training

Travel Must be willing and able to travel within the United States up to 25%.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Work Conditions/Environment Conditions This position is based out of Baltimore, Maryland; telecommuting may be accommodated. If telecommuting, frequent travel to Baltimore will be required for facilitation and other in-person responsibilities.
