Purpose of the Job

Assesses Staff Health Officer is the focal point for all matters related to the health of the Regional Delegation for the Gulf Countries staff. In line with the ICRC staff health strategy and in collaboration with the medical personnel on the spot and regional coordinators, she/he promotes and maintains the physical and mental health of the ICRC staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carries out health briefings for all new ICRC staff.
  • Provides advice and support to ICRC staff on health issues.
  • Ready and available to respond to medical emergencies

Workplace and Environmental Health

  • Assesses and supervises living conditions in the delegation and all sites (5 countries across the GCC including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Oman), promotes general hygiene standards.
  • Evaluates the medical structures available across all sites and quality of services provided; identifies and monitors services for the referral and treatment of ICRC staff.
  • Reports to delegation management and provides feedback and recommendations on issues related to the staff health.

Staff Health General Management, Analysis and Reporting

  • Implements and follows up on the applicable ICRC Health standards including the ICRC stress policy, mental health and general well-being.
  • Collects accurate and reliable data on illnesses, accidents and absenteeism, with a view to providing statistics on illnesses and the medical risks taken by all staff.
  • Update the medical contingency plan and the list of referral health facilities.
  • Infectious diseases and pandemics case management and other outbreaks in all sites as per the local MoH instructions and ICRC guidelines.
  • Keep the medical files of Staff members confidential and ensures that medical documents are processed properly as per ICRC standards.
  • Available to travel to ICRC Missions within the GCC countries as and when required.

Required skills and experience

  • Medical doctor or registered nurse.
  • Fluent knowledge of Arabic and English
  • Computer proficiency
  • Minimum of three years’ clinical experience
  • Experience in mental health and stress management
  • Experience in medical evacuation and transportation
  • Knowledge of tropical health and public health
