Roles and Responsibilities

In This Role, You Will

  • Act as an administrator and Subject Matter Expert for the AVEVA suite of tools, with a focus on Diagrams and Engineering.
  • Be responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 4-5
  • Work with business owners and Technical Product Managers to understand and develop product requirements
  • Translate requirements into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
  • Work with technical product managers and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans
  • Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
  • Reviews and/or analyzes and develops design at domain level and across multiple teams
  • Participates in the EA business-wide and domain governance model
  • Leads the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios
  • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Work cross functionally with other product teams to align activities and deliverables
  • Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
  • Engage other subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
  • Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
  • Provide basic user training and training associated with custom applications to support business needs
  • Collaborate with the business function to address data related problems in regard to systems integration and product structure
  • Enforces methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy
  • May be responsible for vendor evaluation, providing recommendations for selection, and on-going relationship management
  • Develop peer, cross-functional and cross-GE Business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with significant experience.

Desired Characteristics/Technical Expertise

  • Mechanical, Electrical/Controls Engineering background
  • Experience with AVEVA
  • Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (Energy Management, Oil & Gas, Power & Water)
  • Experience working with in an AGILE and/or SAFe environment

Business Acumen

  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
  • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
  • Lean experience a plus

Leadership

  • Ability to takes ownership of medium and large sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and/or lead blended teams, including 3rd party partners and customer personnel.
