Roles and Responsibilities
In This Role, You Will
- Act as an administrator and Subject Matter Expert for the AVEVA suite of tools, with a focus on Diagrams and Engineering.
- Be responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
- Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 4-5
- Work with business owners and Technical Product Managers to understand and develop product requirements
- Translate requirements into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
- Work with technical product managers and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans
- Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
- Reviews and/or analyzes and develops design at domain level and across multiple teams
- Participates in the EA business-wide and domain governance model
- Leads the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios
- Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain
- Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
- Work cross functionally with other product teams to align activities and deliverables
- Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
- Engage other subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
- Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
- Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
- Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
- Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
- Provide basic user training and training associated with custom applications to support business needs
- Collaborate with the business function to address data related problems in regard to systems integration and product structure
- Enforces methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy
- May be responsible for vendor evaluation, providing recommendations for selection, and on-going relationship management
- Develop peer, cross-functional and cross-GE Business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness
Education Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with significant experience.
Desired Characteristics/Technical Expertise
- Mechanical, Electrical/Controls Engineering background
- Experience with AVEVA
- Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (Energy Management, Oil & Gas, Power & Water)
- Experience working with in an AGILE and/or SAFe environment
Business Acumen
- Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
- Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
- Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
- Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
- Lean experience a plus
Leadership
- Ability to takes ownership of medium and large sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
- Demonstrated ability to work with and/or lead blended teams, including 3rd party partners and customer personnel.
