General Description of the Programme:

GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in Idleb Governate, both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.

GOAL has been working in North Aleppo Governate since 2019, through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, as well as emergency support for recently displaced household.

Job purpose:

The Staff Care Assistant is responsible for the implementation and co-ordination of the GOAL Staff Care strategy. she will be tasked with providing culturally sensitive support, trainings and workshops for staff and management and promote wellbeing throughout the staff life cycle. This role will focus on building staff resilience, stress management team building and peer support. The Staff Care Assistant will provide advice on the strategic direction of staff support and well- being. She will act her duties closely with female staff.

Duties, objectives, and competencies

The Staff Care Assistant will submit a weekly and/or monthly written report in English. Her reports record the staff care strategy implementation and evaluate progress. The job will involve other aspects of HR activities such as filing system, recruitment, training, leaves, timesheets, GAOL IDs, performance & development, employees personnel files, maintenance of records etc.

  • Assist in coordination with staff Care Officer promoting the staff care strategies and staff care supports.
  • Support staff care officer to conduct trainings on types of stress, vicarious and secondary trauma, self-care strategies, team building, active listening, how to deliver PFA and when to refer staff for external support.
  • Assist and arrange for regular meetings with female staff to share their thoughts and concerns and encourage them to communicate their concerns and report any incident related to abuse or neglect.
  • Propose and suggest plans for female groups staff activities.
  • Promote the role of female peer support through planning and conducting female staff care activities.
  • Assist improving visibility of staff care resources and supports via posters and leaflets.
  • Assist Staff Care Officer to Conduct regular workshops for staff on key Staff care and well-being topics.
  • Support female staff developing self-care strategies.
  • Assist staff care officer to Coordinate and conduct workshops covering but not limited to the following key areas:

  • Psychological First Aid (PFA)

  • Dealing with Trauma

  • Resilience and Stress Management Work Life Balance

  • The Staff Care Assistant will support, and structure team building and aim to encompass a multifaceted range of activities to suit all staff with special attention to female staff activities.

  • The Staff Care Assistant will design a peer support program and peer support training.

  • regularly circulating emails with information on well-being and other relevant issues.

  • work closely with staff care officer to promote the work life balance of management and encouraging staff to use and plan for their annual leaves and vacations.

  • The Staff Care Assistant will meet with staff (especially female staff) at the beginning and at the end of their assignment in the Exit Interview step.

  • Deliver staff care inductions to all new staff which focus on developing a self-care strategy and information on stress management and work life balance in addition to any other related topic.

  • Provide PFS to concerned staff and support with referral to external service provider if needed

  • The job will involve other aspects of HR activities in coordination with Staff care officer and HR / Admin Manager.

  • Follow up on any other assigned task by HRM.

Requirements (essential)

  • University degree on Psychology, Education, Social sciences or any relevant degree.
  • 1-year previous experience working in duties of care and staff care discipline; or 2 years of professional experience related to dealing with staff such as HR role, admin role
  • Professional experience in duty of care and staff care discipline with NGOs.
  • Excellent experience in designing and delivering trainings.
  • Excellent experience implementing Stress Management, Psychological First Aid (PFA) and other relevant workshops.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Exceptionally excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Excellent at keeping confidentiality standards
  • Flexible team player.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision with good analytical skills and ability to complete tasks within a set time frame.
  • Strong work ethics and commitment to Humanitarian principles
  • Good MS experience with good reporting skill.
  • Good individual counselling, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong representation skills and experience with delivering training sessions in addition to development of relevant trainings.
