Context

Under the overall supervision of the Head of MCD´s Online Communications Unit, the direct supervision of the NOC senior developer technical lead/ digital communications officer, the successful candidate will be responsible to support OCU´s senior developer in website development projects and sustainable management and maintenance/upgrade of IOM external websites. Core Functions / Responsibilities

• Support the development of required themes and modules.
• Be the backup senior developer in support of the NOC senior developer/technical lead as required.
• Participate in the detailed application design to maintain and upgrade IOM Drupal 8/9 Global website and other IOM branded websites as required, and support the needed technical tasks for missions, Regional Offices and project websites.
• Contribute to design and code walk-through for review and incorporate feedback into design and code artefacts, addressing issues and bugs as adequate.
• Under the supervision of MCD´s OCU NOC senior developer/technical lead, guide and support as needed a team of more junior developers working on specific projects.
• Develop using Object Oriented design principles and software design patterns to attain high sustainability, reusability and maintainability.
• Other development related tasks as required.

Education

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field from an accredited academic institution;
• University Degree in the above fields with at least six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Minimum two years of experience in developing Drupal websites (Drupal 8.x) and four years of experience in Drupal 7.x, using tools such as Drush, being able to create custom Drupal modules and themes;
• Minimum four years of experience in web development using PHP web frameworks such as Laravel and Symphony, and strong understanding of best practices of PHP development;
• Strong web development skills with Drupal.
• Able to install, configure and secure application/web servers such as Apache and NGINX and database servers such as MySQL, using high availability configuration for CMS driven websites; HTML, CSS, and Javascript expertise. Knowledge of Acquia cloud platform or similar would be an asset.
• Understands Integration concepts (RESTful services, API development, etc.);
• Familiarity in using version control systems such as GIT and SVN;
• Knowledge in Linux OS will be an advantage.
