EpiC Project Background

Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by FHI 360, the Meeting Targets and Epidemic Control (EpiC) Project is a global project with specific scopes of work in multiple countries related to HIV prevention, care, and treatment. In Thailand, EpiC focuses on interventions to reduce HIV transmission among men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM), male sex workers (MSW), and transgender women (TGW) populations and to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Thailand.

EpiC Thailand managed by FHI 360 is seeking the support of an individual consultant to work with APCOM, EpiC Thailand implementing partner, on the specific tasks and deliverables laid out below.

About the Assignments

For APCOM, sustainability is a complex issue with multiple dimensions covering both supply and demand sides of the organization. It is not simply about being able to obtain regular funding, though this ultimately is key to success. It encompasses good governance, reputation, appropriate strategy development, organizational capacity and the availability of robust data for showing results. Having a clear mission and inspiring vision are necessary, as are well-designed strategies to operationalize the mission and demonstrate outcomes.

In order to help support APCOM funding diversification, and strengthen its sustainability, we require the following consultancy:

Position Title : Sponsorship Development Consultant

Contract Period : August 15 – September 20, 2022, inclusive

Reports to : Executive Director

Location : APCOM Secretariat Bangkok, Thailand (or remote)

About APCOM sponsorship

APCOM’s international flagship event, the Hero Awards, organized every year in Bangkok, brings together a plethora of heroes, community representatives, individual LGBTQI activists, policy-and decision makers, representatives from the UN and the diplomatic community in Bangkok, the media, private sector representatives and other stakeholders. An integral part of the big event, and a requisite, is sponsorship, and APCOM has a range of sponsors, ranging from the corporate sector to institutional funders, such as embassies and UN agencies in Bangkok, and private foundations.

Another well-known event, with more focus on Thailand, are LGBTQI+ Biz, and TestBKK.

Being a sponsor for APCOM means effective and wide exposure to a large and diverse audience, as well as exposure to policy-and decision makers.

Sponsorship Development and Expansion

We envisage to expand and diversify our sponsorship base and packages, internationally and in Thailand, and make more tailored and targeted outreach to established and prospective sponsors to our current and future events and public activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant reports to the Executive Director (ED) and will work, in close collaboration with the ED and relevant colleagues, on the following tasks:

  • Undertake research on sponsorship packages in organizations similar to APCOM, and compile a set of good practices on sponsorship
  • Develop a matrix for current and previous funders, and undertake research on profiles of prospective funders in Asia and the Pacific, and beyond, who may be interested in supporting the course of APCOM and get exposure to a large and varied audience.
  • Develop a strategy and business plan for sponsorship outreach and budget targets for APCOM’s current and future public events and activities
  • Develop promotional material, on-and offline, on Reach out to prospective funders
  • Undertake research on legal aspects, requirements and conditions that are beneficial to donors (tax exemption etc.), and produce clear guidelines for APCOM and partners.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in marketing, business

Experience, skills and knowledge required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of working with sponsorships/public fundraising
  • Demonstrated professional experience in and/or with non-profit organizations, especially related to human rights, gender equality, and LGBTQI
  • Experience in sponsor scoping
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and implementing successful business strategies and plans
  • Ability to compile and summarize complex information into a clear-cut matrix
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and international environment based on mutual respect and tolerance.
  • Experience with fundraising and partnership development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; including to external audiences and the business and diplomatic communities; fluency in English required.
  • Proven organizational and task management skills, with appropriate attention to detail and ability to prioritize work among multiple competing demands, and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows at the same time.
  • Team player, with a positive, enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude.

Method of Submittal:

  • The Consultant agrees to hold the prices in its offer firm for 30 days from the date specified for the receipt of offers, unless another time is specified in the addendum of the RFP.

Evaluation Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Relevant experience: 35%
  • Proposed Approach: 30%
  • Total cost: 25%
  • References: 10%
