International Medical Corps

Job Summary: The Specialist, Strategic Partnerships and Emergency Response will be a key member of the Resource Development (RD) team and wider Institutional Advancement department. This position is responsible for supporting RD efforts to cultivate, steward and solicit private sector partnerships, and develop proposal, report and supporting materials to advance International Medical Corps’ mission.

The Specialist, Strategic Partnerships and Emergency Response will serve as a primary point of contact for the RD team with the Emergency Response Unit, generating information, content and materials to support fundraising efforts in connection with natural and manmade disasters. It will support the RD team, including the Chief Advancement Officer, as they identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, foundation and corporate donors and prospects. This position will work in collaboration with technical, operational, headquarters, and field-based teams to write proposals and reports, draft correspondence and communication for donors and prospects, develop presentations and materials that communicate International Medical Corps’ expertise and programmatic strengths, and participate in the development of fundraising and partnering strategies.

SALARY RANGE: Low $70s to Low $80s

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Emergency Response
• Manage communication and information flow between the Emergency Response Unit and IA colleagues to support emergency response fundraising and reporting efforts.
• Develop emergency response proposals and reports for corporate, foundation, and private sector donors.
• Serve as an RD focal point, in coordination with other dedicated staff members.

Donor Stewardship and Cultivation
• Help manage a portfolio of key private sector donors and support the relationship managers’ stewardship of high-value donors.
• Support multi-faceted partnerships, inclusive of cash, gifts-in-kind, volunteer development and employee engagement to drive flexible or unrestricted revenue streams.
• Oversee strategic partnership volunteer relationships, including introducing International Medical Corps’ Emergency Response Roster process. Ensure timely and accurate follow up and securing of formal partnerships and stewardship of those relationships.
• Leverage a portfolio to support existing fundraising opportunities, including Annual Awards Celebration, Luncheons, Annual Campaigns, and more.
• Support donor and partner strategy identification, development, stewardship and cultivation, including research; meeting support and follow up; development of pitch and follow-up materials; and more.
• In coordination and consultation with IA colleagues and working across departments, develop and implement the Corporate Responders program, including developing outreach materials, managing the program calendar, project management plans and supporting follow up across portfolios.

Programs
• Represents Resource Development and the broader Institutional Advancement department on regional platforms, routine country program calls, and with other internal working groups as needed or assigned.
• Assures compliance with all operational and donor policies and regulations.
• In collaboration with all departments, regional desks and field staff as appropriate, develops concept notes, proposals and reports, including writing, editing, and formatting; predicts and prevents unnecessary bottlenecks in proposal and report development by staying abreast of all proposal components; communicates challenges as they arise; and identifies and implements solutions as needed.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Typically, a Bachelor’s degree in a related area. Advanced degree desirable. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Typically, 7+ years of relevant and progressive employment experience with grant-writing, program development, and/or communications required
• Demonstrated skill in coordinating, facilitating, and managing complex processes with diverse team members
• Experience with an international health or humanitarian organization, or related background
• Demonstrated strategic thinking, creativity, problem-solving ability, and analytical skills
• Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English essential
• Fluency in French or Arabic desirable
