Our wonderful site in Chertsey houses three specialist buildings, each with great facilities and services. These include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, a specialist nursery, hydrotherapy, holiday clubs, personal support in the home, short breaks, fitness and rehabilitation. We also offer many activities such as trips out, art, baking, swimming, and much more!

We are now looking for a Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join us on a permanent, part-time basis, working 12-16 hours per week.

The Role

As a Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide specialist speech and language therapy to babies and children aged 0-5 with Cerebral Palsy and similar neuro-developmental conditions.

Delivering sessions within White Lodge, White Lodge nursery and community-based locations, you will provide a child-centred, family focused approach to enable children to reach their full potential and actively participate in their everyday activities.

You will undertake assessments of the child and their family’s communication and dysphagia needs, ensuring their personal goals and priorities are taken into consideration, with an emphasis on current and future participation in all areas of their daily life.

Additionally, you will:

– Manage therapy assistants, volunteers and students

– Attend videofluoroscopy (VFSS) appointments at tertiary centres

– Participate in relevant assessments of therapy equipment

– Set up and adapt communication and feeding equipment

– Provide written reports for the child’s Education & Health Care Plan

Please note, due to our open and collaborative working environment and the nature of our work with children and adults with disabilities, all our office-based roles can experience periods of elevated noise levels and some elements of disruption.

About You

To be considered as a Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, you will need:

– Experience using a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) modes including Makaton, symbols, high & low tech AAC devices

– The emotional capability to be able to cope with potentially distressing situations

– A good level of IT literacy

– To be registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council

– A BSc or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy

– A Paediatric Dysphagia post graduate qualification

– A full, valid driving licence
