Intern/ Junior Software Engineer (RL) Internship

Sony AI is looking for a talented Software Engineer Intern to join our Zurich-based team for a 6-month internship (early start dates preferred).

Internship Description:
As our research demands grow, we require a software infrastructure that can facilitate this growth and streamline our research process. Many of our researchers contribute to the same codebase and so proper maintenance of this code base is crucial to efficient research. We therefore require talented software engineers that can help integrate experimental code into the main codebase.
In addition, one of the focuses of our research at Sony AI is Reinforcement Learning (RL), which has its own set of unique infrastructure requirements. For example, the ability to train many agents in parallel and to keep a detailed record of each training run.
The goal of this internship is therefore to help improve the integration of code across research teams and to also extend the capabilities of our RL experiments.
Qualifications & Experience:
Background in Computer Science, experience with machine learning is a plus but not required
Excellent programming skill in both C++ and Python
Excellent communication skills in English
Proficiency in git and docker
Evidence of contributing to codebases with multiple contributors
Bonus points for:
Experience with distributed software systems
Experience with tracking experiments and storage in databases
Experience with high performance computing and hardware acceleration
