The HR Advisory team are embarking on our integration to deliver services for our colleagues across Somerset and this role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of this transformational work.

As part of People Services you will be crucial to our ongoing work to develop an inclusive environment where principles of a restorative, just and learning culture are central to how we manage our HR/people processes. As an ambassador for People services you will champion a people before process approach and your excellent communication, coaching and collaboration skills will equip you to guide managers to compassionate decisions and outcomes.

You’ll need to be CIPD qualified or working towards this, with proven experience of working in a similar role, NHS experience is not essential. What is really important is that you are someone who naturally adopts a coaching style to navigate through a range of people matters, encouraging ownership and supporting learning, reflection and change in those that you work alongside.

Develop and build strong working relationships within the Trust.

Focus on creating and delivering people practices which develop – and maintain – positive working relationships between the organisation and its people.

Coaching & guiding managers through complex employee relation cases, progressed in a timely manner, in line with the principles of the policy.

Assist in the preparation of HR data and reporting. Keep a record of all employee relations cases, monitor trends and present this information to appropriate stakeholders.

Proactively identifying areas of development with management capability/ proactively driving plans to improve management performance and capability.

Monitoring, reviewing and updating resources to ensure they are fit for purpose and ensuring these are up to date with latest employment law, best practice and culture of the Trust.

Be the first point of contact for the HR Advisory team for both colleagues and managers, providing effective and consistent advice and support on a range of HR issues such as sickness, capability, maternity, annual leave, terms and conditions of employment and support the clinical psychologist service level agreement.
Plan and manage competing demands of reactive and proactive work to progress the service and support managers/colleagues accessing information themselves, taking into account all differing priorities.
Act as a coach for managers on human resources matters to support building management capability
Advise managers on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment and employment legislation and case law.
Work to ensure resources such as management toolkits and forms support the policies are up to date and fit for purpose.
