1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

Under the overall of the Head of mission Thailand and direct supervision and guidance of the Project Manager, the consultant will be directly responsible and accountable for the co-implementation and evaluation of solar water pumping trainings to organizations in a number of key identified countries.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Establish and strengthen liaison with national and international stakeholders (NGO´s, UN agencies, governmental offices, donors and private companies) by presenting IOM project aims and training packages in relevant forum such as national WASH coordination groups.
  • Evaluate knowledge and needs related to solar water pumping trainings from different organizations, prior the implementation of any training session. Collect working practices and best examples from different countries.
  • Carry out 3 to 4 days long solar water pumping trainings (remotely, online), following IOM training material. Prepare examples and adapt existing training material to the specifies of the targeted countries.
  • Collect feedback from training participants and incorporate it to improve training packages.
  • Provide post-training reports with recommendation to enforce a better adoption of solar technology in WASH programmes.
  • Provide technical support and advice to IOM project manager as requested.

3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Master’s degree in water management, hydraulic engineering or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • Additional university degree, course or diploma in electrical engineering or related field will be considered as a strong asset.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in the field of water and/or solar energy programmes in recognized international institutions.
  • Familiarity with electricity and solar cutting edge technology related to solar water pumping.
  • Experience in training multi stakeholder groups
  • Familiarity with humanitarian programmes, contexts and organizations.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • French language is an asset.
