Develop and deliver apps and websites used by millions every day – including Sports , iPlayer and bbc.co.uk . You’ll also develop software and services for our journalists, producers and corporate teams, helping them to do their work and deliver content and products efficiently.

- Duration: 40 months for England and Wales & 48 months for Scotland
- Salary: £19,500 plus £4,918 London Weighting for those individuals who have London as their primary work base

Role Responsibility
You’ll get full stack experience, and learn to use agile planning and delivery practices like pairing, code and documentation reviewing, and continuous delivery.
Practice quality control, write automated tests, and work with others to integrate software with monitoring and support tools. And contribute to technical documentation of jobs.
Help to troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout the product life cycle, including out of hours support (with support from others in the team). Learn and use the team’s agile planning and delivery process.
You’ll Complete Specialist Modules Such as
You’ll study for an L6 Software Engineering qualification from The Institute of Apprenticeships in Technical Education.

- Software development methodologies – waterfall vs agile
- Web development – HTML, CSS and SASS
- Data structures and algorithms
- Frontend frameworks
- Databases
- Testing
- Project engineering skills

You’re able to apply software engineering theory into practice, a natural problem solver who is able to work on your own and stay motivated. You are positive and able to apply yourself while being a good communicator and enjoy working with technical and non-technical people at all levels. Who We’re Looking For
- You must be aged 18 or over when the course starts in September 2023
- Have an Extended BTEC Certificate or A-Level qualification in computer science, software programming or something similar or a recognised fast track learning programme in Software development or something similar
- Have maths and English GCSEs at 9-4 (A-C), National 4/5 (Scotland) or equivalen
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK
- Have lived in the UK, Ireland or the European Economic Area (EEA), for at least three years before the start of the apprenticeship. Or have either pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme and lived in the UK, EEA or Gibraltar for at least three years.
- If you sat your A-Levels in England, Wales or NI, one of your A-Levels should be in Maths, English or computer science.
- If you’re a college leaver, you’ll need to have completed a BTEC certificate (360 GLH), or Cambridge Technicals in Information Technology Level 3 or an AQA Tech Level Computing and IT Level 3.
Don’t worry if you don’t have an extensive CV. You can share examples of your passion for coding and software development from anywhere. That might be other work experience, your time in education or volunteering.
