POST TITLE: Socio-Legal Researcher
LOCATION: Coram International, Coram Community Campus, 41 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 2QA
SALARY SCALE: £35,000-£40,000 per annum depending on experience
RESPONSIBLE TO: Mixed Methods Research Specialist / Director of Coram International
HOURS: 35 hours per week
Contract Duration: 12 months fixed term (maternity cover), with the potential to extend
Coram International is a legal and research consultancy based at the Coram Children’s Legal Centre in London. Our team works with UN agencies, international charities and governments around the world to promote and protect the human rights of children.
Our research covers a broad range of thematic areas including: the treatment of children within criminal justice systems, violence against children and child protection, child migration and trafficking, child marriage, adolescents’ access to sexual and reproductive health rights, the use of children in armed conflict and terrorism, and many others. We work in countries throughout the world.
We are seeking an experienced researcher, with skills in designing and implementing mixed methods research and evaluation projects, to join our small, friendly team. The ideal candidate will have advanced creative analytical skills, and be able to work with both qualitative and quantitative data. They will be able to write clearly, concisely, and in a compelling manner for a range of policy, practitioner and academic audiences, and will possess high levels of initiative and a willingness to take responsibility for their own work load and professional development.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, and to develop their skills in a range of applied research methods.
The post is originally intended as a 12-month maternity cover, but there may be opportunities to extend the post for the right candidate.
The post will be based in London, but regular overseas travel to the range of countries in which Coram International works is an essential part of the job.
