AIDS Concern’s vision is for Triple Zero Hong Kong – ZERO new HIV infections, ZERO stigma and ZERO AIDS deaths. To meet this vision, our PLHIV (People Living with HIV) Support and Anti-stigma team is dedicated to providing education programs for improving public understanding of HIV through active anti-stigma campaigns and educational workshops.

In that sense, we need a dedicated and passionate person who understands the importance of empowerment to help people make positive changes in their lives to join us as Social Worker / Counsellor / Prevention Officer for our Testing and Counselling service.

Job Description

The role will support the Testing and Counselling services of AIDS Concern by providing Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) services, primarily in our Testing Centre and elsewhere as required, and providing counselling in response to clients’ needs.

Key Job Duties

  • Provide VCT services to sexual and gender diverse individuals in Testing Centre and mobile venues
  • Provide psychological counselling and sex education for risk reduction
  • Provide instant online support for people using HIV home-test-kit when necessary
  • Develop a plan of action to improve the client’s well-being, plan regular follow-ups to assess progress and additional needs
  • Assist to develop and operate a new project for Chem Fun MSM user
  • Assist to maintain the case management system and communicate with the vendor for update when necessary
  • Collaborate with other teams across the organization to design and implement new programs / projects
  • Other related duties as assigned

We Are Seeking Candidates Who Are/have

  • Degree holder or above in Social Sciences, Public Health or related disciplines, social work or counselling preferable
  • 2-years relevant experience, preferable in providing case work and / or counselling to diverse community
  • Candidate who is familiar with sexual health and culture of minorities is preferred
  • Open minded with high multicultural competence, good team player, able to form collaborations among various stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with clear goal to meet the needs of the community AIDS Concern serves
  • Proficient in English and Chinese (written and spoken)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office operations
  • Willing to work outside normal work hours as required
