Proposal Summary:

The purpose of this anticipated program is to build the capacity of Haitian citizens and institutions to reduce gang violence through a three-pronged approach that connects the police, communities, and social services in targeted neighborhoods. The goal is to see measurable improvement in the safety and security of Haitians in the targeted communities.

Position Summary:

The Team Lead will be responsible for providing tailored services such as basic medical care, psychosocial support, family counseling, legal aid, and shelter to at-risk youth and victims of violence.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve awareness and access to appropriate services (psychosocial support, substance abuse counseling, mentoring, etc.) that reduce vulnerable youth’s risk factors for violence.
  • Increase adaptive capacity of targeted population to respond to the negative effects of crime and violence in their neighborhoods.
  • Build capacity of CSOs, frontline workers/first responders, and other service providers to meet community needs, including providing survivor-centered support to victims of crimes and coordinated legal aid, basic medical, and psycho-social support services to victims of crimes.
  • Carry out assessments which informs the establishment and operationalization of a one-stop victim support centers that consolidate medical, health, social, legal, referral, and other services in the same location to provide comprehensive and urgent services in select neighborhoods.
  • Increase the awareness of the causes and consequences of violence (including sexual and gender-based violence) and reduced tolerance for and use of violence to resolve conflicts.

Required Qualifications:

  • A relevant Master’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant technical experience with at least three years in a gender advisory role.
  • Must have strong leadership, program and organizational management and communication skills, as well as sound analytical abilities.
  • Extensive expertise in mainstreaming youth and gender considerations into programming.
  • Extensive experience working with victims of sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Extensive experience conducting gender and youth assessments.
  • Experience in successfully establishing and managing collaborative relationships and partnerships with donors and government counterparts.
  • Extensive experience in research and policy-level analysis.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead an intercultural team in a development context, including supervising long-term field staff and short term international and local experts is required.
  • Fluency in French and or Haitian Creole preferred.
  • Experience working in Haiti or in a country with a similar level of socio-economic development is desirable.
