The Global Communications Group is the central Forum team dedicated to communications with the public, media, stakeholders and staff in relation to the Forum’s mission. Through multiple channels, the Group is responsible for communicating the work of the Forum and its constituents, reaching, growing, engaging and inspiring diverse and interested audiences.

Why we are recruiting

The Group is expanding and consolidating its strategy. It is composed of four key functions: Communication Strategy and Coordination, Public Engagement, Media Engagement, and Stakeholder and Staff Engagement. The Group is looking for a Social Media Specialist to work within the Communication Strategy and Coordination unit, to support the crafting, development and successful implementation of the Forum’s social media content and distribution strategies.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The role will report to the Social Media and Live Communications Lead, within the Strategy and Coordination function. Internally, it will liaise across the Global Communications Group, particularly with the Public Engagement function. Externally, it will liaise with constituents and their social media and/or communications’ teams and external providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive social media content and distribution strategy aligned with the Forum’s overall communications goals, key messages and editorial guidelines.
  • Prepare content and messaging for social media, adapting it for specific channels and collaborating with social media managers across the organization.
  • Work closely within the Global Communications Group, in particular with the Editorial Development and Planning team and the Public Engagement function, to ensure alignment of social media efforts with overall content creation and planning.
  • Manage and monitor the Forum’s presence on social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, TikTok, Weibo, WeChat and YouTube.
  • Identify and remain informed of platform updates and algorithm changes on social media outlets, adapting strategies accordingly to optimize reach and engagement.
  • Identify and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to amplify the organization’s reach and impact.
  • In close coordination with the Metrics Unit, utilize social media analytics tools to track and analyse the success of social media campaigns.
  • Serve as a trusted member of the Global Communications Group team, developing trusted internal relationships across the team and the organization.

The successful candidate will be assessed on

  • Successful coordination of social media content across the Forum’s channels, in close collaboration with all internal stakeholders.
  • Strong internal relationships across the Global Communications Group and broader organization, enabling for smooth and effective delivery of the internal communications strategy.
  • Creation of social media guidelines for internal and external constituents, in close alignment with the Stakeholder Engagement team.
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently and transparently within the team and across the organization as a strong team player.
  • Strong understanding of the Forum’s mission and impact, showcased in the social media messaging.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant issues, developments, initiatives, and stakeholders pertinent to the Forum’s mission and impact-related work; ongoing learning of the latest social media practices and tools.
  • Ability to treat confidential information with discretion.

Required qualifications

  • Degree in communications, journalism or other relevant areas. Candidates who have completed digital accreditations or taken different routes to upskilling are welcome to apply.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in social media and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and best practices.
  • Proficient in using social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Graphic design capabilities, including proficiency in Canva and Adobe Suite, to create visually engaging content.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in other languages, such as Spanish and/or Chinese, is a valued asset.
  • Proven excellent project management and coordination skills; attention to detail; capacity to apply critical thinking, synthesize various viewpoints, consult broadly, work collaboratively in a multicultural team, and manage both long- and short-term objectives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration and operational management skills.
