This is an exciting time to work for the Missionary Department! The Product Manager 2 in the Missionary Department will create and manage products for the interested friends and member audiences with the purpose of furthering the mission of the Church by inviting all to come unto Christ. The focus of the Product Manager is on meeting the needs of this customer audience as they help the Church fulfill its mission to gather Israel.
Responsibilities
As a Product Manager in the Missionary Department, you will lead out in creating products and solutions that people love to use, while meeting the needs of interested friends and members, accomplishing the goals of the department, and aligning to the needs and requirements of the Church organization! The following is a breakdown of some of the duties the Social Media Product Manager 2 will lead:
Discovery and Sponsorship-
- Identify the most important problems and opportunities of the interested friends and member audiences.
- Draft discussion guides and conduct regular listening sessions to stay in touch with the voice of the customer. This will include internal users of the products, stakeholders, missionaries, members, and interested friends.
- Synthesize data from both qualitative and quantitative sources to identify the most urgent and pervasive problems for the audience and users of the systems we create.
- Become an expert in the data that aids inspiration and decision-making.
- Sponsor and represent the need for products to stakeholders at various levels in the organization.
Test and Iterate-
- Work with designers and engineers to form hypotheses and build prototypes or early tests for the best way to solve the problems identified in Discovery.
- Test hypotheses and collect data about the effectiveness of the prototypes.
- Iteratively refine the designs until you have a high level of confidence that the prototype represents the best possible solution.
Build and Launch-
- Lead a team of engineers, designers, and analysts to create the best solutions possible.
- Own the product vision and inspire the team to do the best work of their lives.
- Clearly communicate the priority and definition of requirements to service organizations.
- Oversee the successful launch of products and solutions.
- Coordinate the planning and rollout of user education to ensure a successful launch.
- Work with service departments to select and manage vendors when purchasing products.
Measure, Learn, and Iterate-
- Measure the level of success for the audiences’, teams’, and organization’s goals.
- Continue to sponsor product improvements throughout the lifecycle of the product to ensure continued success of organizational goals.
- At times, based on data or organizational priorities, lead the efforts to fully retire products that no longer efficiently meet the objectives for which they were sponsored.
Qualifications
- 4+ years leading multidisciplinary projects or initiatives as a product manager
- Experience managing social media products is helpful but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related disciplines
- Researching customer needs, including interviews, surveys, and data analysis
- Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts with teams of engineers and designers
- Ability to understand and communicate business needs with users, customers, and stakeholders
- Pragmatic Marketing certification expected within 12 months of hire
- Ability to proactively identify, define, and solve very complex problems and opportunities.
- Ability to advocate change and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Ability to create and deliver executive-level presentations
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills
- This position requires a high level of autonomy and will operate with minimal supervision.
- Willingness and ability to operate with high levels of ambiguity and vague instructions. It will be the job of the Product Manager to create order and clarity from the ambiguity.
- Ability to influence and persuade other contributors and leaders at all levels.
- Ability to negotiate priorities with other product teams and service departments, to enable your products and teams to succeed, while also contributing to the success of the larger organization.
Worthiness Qualification
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
