Description

Background 

Ta’afi is a United States Agency for International Development Office of Transition Initiatives (USAID/OTI) program implemented by Chemonics International in Iraq. ICRI-Ta’afi aims to increase stability in Iraq by improving conditions that allow for durable returns in areas liberated from ISIS while mitigating discrete emergent challenges that threaten overall stability. Ta’afi is recruiting for a MEL coordinator.

Classification:

Cooperating Country National, Long-Term, remote.

Reports to:

S/he will report to the Deputy MEL Manager. This position is based in Baghdad or Basrah, Iraq

Responsibilities:

Acts as the primary focal point to ensure MEL plans are executed in a timely manner and social media monitoring reports and site visits are scheduled accordingly.

Responsible for summarizing all social media monitoring and site visit reports add contextual layers of analysis to the reports when necessary. Then share with the GMUs and OTI members.

  • Assists the MEL officers in creating and developing tools and templates to collect and analyze data both offline and online.
  • Generates social media analysis reports, to Taafi social media activities, through adopting different analysis mechanisms, this can include any efficient social media analysis software.
  • Provide frequent data analysis reports on social media trends, that might feed into social media grants management unit design of activities.
  • Verify the social media reports and deliverables coming from the grantees.
  • Conducts and ensures timely and accurate data collection and reporting for pre/post-intervention assessments, activity monitoring, and evaluations, using quantitative and qualitative tools, including but not limited to focus group discussions, key informant interviews, qualitative observation, and surveys
  • Documents social media monitoring reports and site visit findings, and verifies output and outcome in accordance with monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans
  • Collects, analyzes, and systematizes feedback on clusters of activities
  • Performs online database audits to ensure accuracy of entered data and consistency of records
  • Assists grantees with report preparation to ensure reports capture results and impact. Attends kick-off meeting and orients the grantees on the intended impact of the activity, indicators, evaluation approach that the grantees can consider and explain the GFR.  
  • Coordinates field data collection schedule and logistics with Taafi field team.
  • Other duties as assigned

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required, preferably in social media analysis.

• A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in data collection, research, and/or reporting on program impact and implementation is highly preferred

• Experience with donor-funded organizations preferred

• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Experience working with data collection software preferred, or any social media analysis tool.

• Strong organizational, management and administrative skills related to research, analysis, and MEL preferred

• Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, the public, and partner institutions, including international and local nongovernmental organizations, governmental entities, and support organizations

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize multiple work assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and exercise good, professional judgment

• Fluency in written and oral Arabic and English is required; written and oral fluency in Kurdish and other local languages is preferred, but not required.

  • Contract period: 12 Months with possibility of extension  
  • Salary: The salary of this position falls under band FSN-06  
  • The selected candidates will be vetted.
