Bahar Organization is an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aids to vulnerable people without any discrimination in all its forms. BO is operating to respond to the needs and basic requirements of the humanitarian crisis in Syria in the middle of the affected communities caused by the conflict the basic principles of BO’s activities are to enhance the basic living standards to the affected population by delivering humanitarian aid based on the needs.

General View of the position:

He/ She is the focal point of related projects at Bahar with donors, coordinates and supervises with other departments for project progress as per the designated work plan and timeframe. He/ She is the key risk indicator in case of emergencies related to the projects.

Job Details

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Implementation:

  • Oversee the overall implementation of the designated social cohesion projects in accordance with the project proposals ensuring targets are met within the required time frame and budget.
  • Construct Concept Note/proposal in coordination with Program leadership, HR, Logistic, and Finance Dept. as per donor guidelines.
  • Follow up with M&E Dept. to ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation against project’s objectives and targets are conducted.
  • Support the Grants Dept. in the development and production of new concepts notes and proposals.
  • Modify the implementation plan of the project to adapt to changes as required.
  • Set periodic meetings with other departments to discuss the progress of the projects and find solutions for any existing and potential barriers and challenges.
  • Ensure designated projects are implemented in line with donor proposals and requirements and in accordance with Bahar, donor, country, and international standards.
  • Promote the use of operating procedures, ensuring that all standardized formats are used, and guidelines are followed.
  • Regularly assess and provide feedback and recommendations on the quality of the projects to the Programmes Manager during and after the implementation period.

Representation:

  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with relevant stakeholders (e.g. donors and other NGOs) and represent Bahar at technical working groups, workshops, etc. in order to facilitate and ensure cooperation and fruitful partnerships.

HQ and Field Team management:

  • Provide technical support to the Relief project team at HQ
  • Liaise between Turkey and Syria teams.
  • Supervise and manage the field team that is related directly to the project.

Reporting:

  • Receive and revise weekly and monthly reports from related project officers and assistants at HQ.
  • Review Finance/ M&E reports and act according to their recommendations and the best interest of the project.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports of project progress to donors.
  • Prepare and send weekly/monthly reports of project progress to Programmes Manager, if needed.
  • Ensure complete and timely reporting of activities to donors and Programmes Manager.

Capacity Building:

  • Determine any specific need of capacity building related to the position and inform the Programmes Manager.
  • Provide related training to field/HQ team (the method is discussed with the Program Manager).
  • Attend related training held by donors, other NGOs, partners…etc. as advised by Programmes Manager.

Adherence:

  • Reflect the vision and values of Bahar with team members, local staff, beneficiaries, and external contacts.
  • Adhere to all HR policies as per the HR manual and code of policy.
  • Ensure full completion of any other work and tasks requested by line manager and/or Executive Director.

Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies or other relevant fields, a master’s degree is a plus.
  • More than three years of experience in a relevant field of work.

Required Skills and Capabilities:

  • English language proficiency: very good (writing, reading, and speaking).
  • MS Office suite proficiency: very good.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and improve capacity building of other staff.
  • Ability to transfer gained skills to other staff.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with respect for diversity.
  • Adherence to the organization’s vision, mission, goals and objectives, and commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
