General Description of the Programme:

SENED is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization licensed and registered in Türkiye with the number 27-15-175. SENED Organization was established shortly after the Syrian Nakba and in response to the suffering of millions of Syrian refugees in Turkey as well as internally displaced people in Syria, to alleviate suffering, achieving justice, equality, and freedom, strengthening the role of civil society, and supporting and developing the local community. SENED works in the humanitarian work sectors to support, empower, and educate the community through several programs, takes exceptional care of people with disabilities and their families and defends their issues.

SENED Association emphasizes creating safe, accessible, and participation-encouraging living conditions for individuals’ emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development by focusing on people with disabilities. Beyond the medical perspective on disability, it tries to find solutions to the problems faced by disabled people with a holistic perspective by considering the disabled people, their families, and the society they live in, focusing on the conditions they experience. SENED Association aims to create a safe and supportive environment and space by conducting family-oriented activities to help disabled individuals and their families become stronger, discover their potential and stand by with their children. By collecting data on refugee-disabled people and identifying problems and needs, SENED strives to ensure harmony between disabled refugees and local people with a voluntary, professional team and a community-based approach. All activities, education, research, advocacy, etc., are carried out on platforms created by local and disabled refugee people.

Job purpose:

To supervise and implement special need rehabilitation (SNR), awareness raising sessions and psycho-education sessions for children with disabilities (CwDs) and their caregivers, conduct technical assessments for beneficiaries and refer them to appropriate services and assistive devices according to their needs.

Duties, objectives, and competencies:

– Provide technical assessments to identify the needs of children with disabilities (CwDs) and their caregivers using standardized tools and methods, and document the results and recommendations.

– Develop a care plan for each beneficiary based on their technical assessment, including goals, objectives, activities, frequency, duration, and expected outcomes of the sessions, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the caregiver and the specialist.

– Implement sessions according to the care plan of the CwDs, using evidence-based techniques and approaches, and monitor the progress and challenges of the beneficiaries and their caregivers.

– Update the care plan if needed, based on the feedback and evaluation of the beneficiaries and their caregivers, and the observation and assessment of the specialist.

– Conduct psycho-education sessions for caregivers, using participatory and interactive methods, to enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitudes on disability, child development, positive parenting, stress management, and self-care.

– Conduct awareness-raising sessions about disability related topics, such as the rights of persons with disabilities, the social model of disability, the inclusion and participation of CwDs, and the prevention of disability, for different target groups, using appropriate materials and tools.

– Advise case workers about the needs of beneficiaries and the services and assistive devices they need, such as health care, education, protection, livelihood, mobility aids, and communication devices, and provide them with relevant information and guidance.

– Support case workers for internal and external referrals, by facilitating the referral process, ensuring the follow-up and feedback, and coordinating with other service providers and stakeholders.

– Record registered SNR beneficiaries, their technical assessments, and SNR session attendances in the database in a timely manner, update information as necessary, and ensure that progress is updated in the database, using the designated software and formats, and ensuring the quality and consistency of the data.

– Maintain highly organized technical assessment hard copy files and update the database on a regular basis, and cooperate with the case management team by filing, scanning, and archiving the documents, and sharing and exchanging the data and information with the case management team, and following the data protection and confidentiality policies and procedures.

– Contribute to project strategies and program development in the health and protection sector, by participating in meetings, trainings, and workshops, providing inputs and feedback, and identifying gaps and needs.

Requirements: Essential

– Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or any other relevant field. knowledge and skills on disability, child development, assessment, intervention, and communication.

– Intermediate skills in the Tukish language, including both written and spoken communication, and the ability to effectively communicate with different audiences and stakeholders.

– Advanced skills in the Arabic language, both written and spoken, and the ability to effectively communicate with different audiences and stakeholders.

– A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a similar position, preferably in humanitarian settings, with children with disabilities (CwDs) and their caregivers.

– Demonstrated skills and competencies in Special Needs Rehabilitation (SNR), psycho-education, and awareness-raising.

Requirements (desired)

– Advanced skills in written and spoken English

– Ability to produce high-quality reports and documents in English

– Intermediate skills in written and spoken Turkish

– Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders and audiences

– Verified experience in humanitarian work and principles

– Familiarity with humanitarian standards, codes of conduct, and guidelines

– Knowledge of Sphere standards, Core Humanitarian Standard, and IASC Guidelines on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action.
