The Opportunity

Save the Children is seeking job applicants for a Senior MEAL/IM Officer post in Istanbul. The Senior MEAL/IM Officer will report to the MEAL Specialist whilst providing technical MEAL and IM support and s/he will work closely with SCI and partner staff in the implementation sites. S/he will also provide cross-thematic support pertaining to MEAL activities to increase data quality and inform project adjustments where necessary through ensuring evidence-based decision making. From IM side, primary duties of the post include design and administration of SCI’s central database (currently through Commcare) and lead administration of various custom made software, advice on partner databases, and lead on any future transition/migration. From MEAL’s side, the post will be primarily responsible for conducting frequent on-site and off-site monitoring, support/lead on tools’ and IM products’ development, maintaining Accountability mechanism, ensure data confidentiality and security and develop/revise SoPs were relevant, support/lead on various assessments, provide capacity building, supervision, and coaching to SCI and partner staff where relevant, and be responsible for data management and reporting concerning the project(s) s/he is responsible for.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • BSc/BA in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Statistics or related field. MSs/MA in mentioned degrees will be given due consideration;
  • 3 years of relevant experience in MEAL, MEL, M&E, or IM roles with BSc/BA OR 2 years of relevant experience with MSs/MA;
  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and information/database management;
  • Proven experience in quantitative data collection, statistics, research design;
  • Working knowledge of SPSS, R, or similar software package;
  • Advanced working knowledge with MS Office applications (i.e. Word, advanced Excel, Outlook, Teams) with high degree of proficiency and productivity;
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Turkish, with experience in working with multicultural teams. Fluency in Arabic is an asset;
  • Experience in training project personnel in the use of database management software applications;
  • Working knowledge of Commcare, PowerBI or similar software is desirable;
  • Experience in qualitative data collection through child friendly methodologies is desirable;
  • Previous experience working in humanitarian programmes in education, protection, and livelihood sectors is desirable;
  • Demonstrated ability in community mobilisation and community-level dialogue, or experience in representing his/her organisation will be assets.

Position holder will be based in Istanbul, therefore legal right to work in Turkey is necessary at the time of application. Applications are accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis.
