  • General Background

Established in December 1950, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect and assist refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people. UNHCR works in over 130 countries to protect and care for over 110 million people.

The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services works in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels. The primary purpose of PSP in Greece is to generate income from both Individual Donors (IG), as well as Corporates, Foundations and Private Philanthropists (PPH), in order to sustain UNHCR activities both worldwide as for Greece Operations specifically.

Through this position, PSP Greece aims to develop and support income from IG partnerships, reinforcing the capacity of team PSP Greece with a Senior IG Assistant role/position, specialized in the area of donor acquisition and development, in order to secure appropriate long-term performances for the IG fundraising programs.

  • Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Under the overall supervision of the Senior PSP Operations Associate, the tasks of the Snr IG Assistant will be the following:

  • Oversee the content of Acquisition portfolio with special consideration on Face-to-Face and Digital campaigns to secure the alignment between Acquisition and Donor Development activities.
  • Assign duties to IG PSP team-members and review those duties regularly to safeguard they are progressing according to the respective plans, while acting to develop the alignment of IG PSP team.
  • Oversee creation of all campaigns’ promotional materials to ensure compatibility, timing, and best results.
  • Design, monitor and follow-up of activities regarding Donors’ Experience.
  • Facilitate donor base analysis to support and improve Donor Development strategy.
  • Monitor all available channels of communication with donors, as well as proactive research of new opportunities.
  • Guide the internal Donor Care team regarding incoming requests by any channel of communication.
  • Management and guidance of external suppliers to create the relevant packs regarding Donor Development activities (content, scripts, mailings, recognition items, etc., but also tenders, POs and payments).
  • Oversee and provide support the Middle Donors program according to the overall PSP strategy.
  • Work closely with PPH to create a solid and clear ladder of engagement through the Middle Donors program.
  • Develop alliances with UNHCR Office in Greece and worldwide, and other stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, Suppliers etc.).
  • Stay updated in fundraising best practices across different audiences and channels.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Any other duty as required.
  • Qualifications and Experience

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Qualifications

  • Education
  • Completion of secondary education, with preferably a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree;
  • Work Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience or minimum 1 year of work experience combined with a Bachelor’s or equivalent or higher degree in relevant field;
  • Relevant working experience in Donors’ Acquisition and Development strategy and it’s implementation;
  • Relevant working experience with and understanding of Database Management or CRM;
  • Key Competencies
  • Language requirements: fluent Greek knowledge, excellent English (both oral and written);
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Good knowledge of Greek fundraising environment;
  • Knowledge and ability to create, execute and support, a complete donor development plan;
  • Understanding of acquisition plan and ability of aligning it to the donor development plan;
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking;
  • Good coordination skills;
  • High level of interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and diplomatic skills for engagement with a wide variety of contacts;
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to prioritize work and work under pressure;
  • Self-motivation and attention to details;
  • Ability to think creatively and to innovate;
  • High degree of commitment for UNHCR’s mission;
