Chemonics seeks a short-term technical consultant to conduct a systematic review and harmonization of the Malawi’s Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) range of medicines and medical supplies to establish a rational list of products with clear and consistent specifications. The short-term technical consultant will also support the alignment of the electronic Logistics Management Information System (eLMIS) forms with the new product range and descriptions. This assignment will be carried out partly remotely, with travel to Lilongwe, Malawi required. The assignment is expected to be part-time and last approximately 22 days in March 2023.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct desk work to review and revise Central Medical Store Trust’s (CMST) NAV Item Master, product catalogue, eLMIS forms for different levels of care, Item Masters of ERPs for the Global Fund (GF), USAID, and other Malawi Ministry of Health (MOH) funded projects.
  • Conduct interviews with staff from CMST, GF, USAID, and Malawi MOH to gather historical logistics data for determination of relevance of product items
  • Meet with relevant team members responsible for managing the CMST, GF, USAID, and other MOH partners funded products to discuss and agree on product harmonization
  • Clean CMST product range and prepare an excel file with the proposed CMST product list with improved item descriptions, units of measure, and therapeutic category indicated whether the item is included in the WHO Essential Medicines List
  • Propose draft of updated eLMIS forms for the various levels of care based on the newly proposed product list with CMST codes, descriptions, and units of measure
  • Write project reports

Qualifications:

  • First Degree (B.SC) in pharmacy, preferably advanced (postgraduate degree in pharmacy)
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals supply chain management
  • Prior experience with consulting, designing, and implementing national products, aligned with WHO Essential Medicines List
  • Experience with implementing GS1 standards
  • Experience integrating product catalog with Microsoft NAVISION ERP system is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing
