JOB DESCRIPTION

The Shipment and Custom Manager is responsible to oversee Emergency shipping operations in Sudan and to manage relations with custom authorities ensuring compliance to the Country regulation and Emergency policies.

Shipment and Custom Manager’s tasks and responsibilities include – but are not limited to – the following:

· Overseeing custom clearance procedures ensuring a timely and efficient management of the processes;

· Monitoring shipment and transportation operations, costs and timings, liaising with carriers;

· Evaluating carriers performance and resolving issues with orders, collaborating with the logistic department;

· Collaborating with all the internal department of the hospital to optimize information flow and shipping/delivery operations, acting as liaison between management, carriers and internal customers;

· Dealing with the administration of daily activities such as:

· Drafting the documents needed to manage shipment and custom relations in Arabic and English and participating in internal or external meetings;

· Reporting constantly the status of the processes to the Management of the hospital, being able to ensure compliance with the Country regulation and Emergency policy and procedures;

· Running costs analysis and market benchmark in order to propose improvements in shipment management;

· Collaborating with the Visa Office, if needed, to ensure a consistent approach in the external relations with the Country Authorities and in the implementation of new regulations.

· Being able to train new staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3 years of previous experience in the role in NGOs or Private company;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in English and Arabic;

  • In-depth knowledge of shipping and custom clearance documentation and procedures;

  • Extensive reporting experience;

  • Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills;

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills;

  • A previous experience as Supervisor of a Team is highly desirable.

Type of contract: the initial contract will be definite (6 months) with following extension and/or transformation to indefinite after a positive assessment of the Employee’s performance. The economic package will be in line with the candidate previous experience, skills and qualifications.
