Job Purpose

To provide technical monitoring of school rehabilitation projects implemented either directly by World Vision, or by implementing partners sub granted by World vision in Idleb and A’zaz. The position is also to conduct spot checks of the ongoing activities to ensure the work is in full alignment with planned standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

Operational

  • Implement and supervise Shelter activities
  • Provide overall follow up and supervision on the implementation of Shelter activities / rehabilitation works
  • Develop and continually update Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs) for the delivery of project activities
  • Track activity; ensure that appropriate actions are in place in a timely fashion.
  • Design of potential and current construction projects
  • Conduct Shelter assessments, using tools validated by WASH & Shelter Coordinator & Technical Adviser
  • Develop specifications, drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and support in the evaluation of potential contractors
  • Develop, implement, and manage plans or programs related to conservation or management of natural resources
  • Perform design calculations
  • Ensure that all information related to Shelter activities are collected and reported in a timely manner.
  • Follow up with Shelter local partners on the quality of implementation,

Coordination

  • Coordinate with line manager for planning of daily activity.
  • Coordinate with the partner field team for the daily activity.
  • Coordinate with the other teams from WV for the comparative activity
  • Coordinate the works between beneficiaries, consultant and partner organization
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders

Reporting

  • Submit regular reports (daily /weekly/monthly) related to the project to the line manager.
  • report any variation orders or activity document to the line manager
  • Report the daily progress of works to line manager.
  • Report any urgent or emergency situation accordingly

Required Professional Experience

  • At least 1 years of experience in school rehabilitation /construction projects
  • At least 2years of experience with humanitarian aid work and NGOs.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Bachelor degree inCivil/Construction Engineering, Architecture, or any other related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability;
  • Ability to use a computer, with word-processing and spreadsheets, (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to use maps and drawings

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Ability to work with a reasonably level of comfort in high tension and high security risk situations;
  • Ability to facilitate the creation of cross-functional project teams and development national working standards compatible with the local culture

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Ability to travel across the country regularly for training, assessment, regular monitoring and evaluation

Language Requirements

  • Strong Arabic and English communication skills (oral and written)
