General Description of the Programme:

GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in Idleb Governate, both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.

GOAL has been working in North Aleppo Governate since 2019, through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, as well as emergency support for recently displaced household.

Job purpose:

The Shelter data Assistant will be based in GOAL’s office in Harem supporting the Shelter programme manager with Data collection, conducting field periodic inspections, Documentation, and reporting. S/he will work in close coordination Syria-based GOAL engineers.

The Shelter Data Assistant’s main responsibility is to ensure that all required data related to Shelter activities are collected and properly documented. This will involve working closely with the Shelter engineers to produce progress updates. It will also involve periodic visits to all work location to collect data related to the shelter programme. The will require a high level of computer literacy, especially Microsoft Excel.

The Shelter data assistant will also be responsible for conducting the required basic analysis using the available tools and providing notes and comparison between the actual and planned activity schedule in all work location.

Duties, objectives, and competencies

  • Assisting the Shelter Programme manager to develop work plans and ensure that it’s up to date during all stages of the project.
  • Creating and updating Shelter activities progress trackers.
  • Ensuring that all Shelter projects/activities documents are properly prepared, signed and archived in collaboration with the Sr. Shelter Engineer.
  • Entry of programme data to be used in reporting and documentation of activities and indicators.
  • Analysing data collected to produce reports shelter project and ensuring the information accuracy.
  • Highlighting discrepancies in information collected and suggesting follow up action with relevant departments.
  • Submit a daily report to shelter programme manager on the completed works.
  • Assist Shelter Programme Manager in creating data collection tools.
  • Liase with beneficiaries’ selection, verification, and accountability teams to select beneficiaries and provide feedback to CFM communications.
  • Contribute to the programme outreach activities to ensure the awareness of GOAL beneficiaries of the planned interventions and consulting all stakeholders.
  • Maintaining the data and information entered and classifying it appropriately, in addition to ensuring its confidentiality
  • Perform any other tasks related to the nature of work as required by the line manager

Requirements (essential)

  • Bachelors in any filed in engineering
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in a data Management in an NGO (Data Entry, Data storage and protection, Data processing, Data Analyst)
  • Technical knowledge of Shelter projects.
  • Advanced Excel, database management, and power BI skills.
  • High experience in using mobile data collection tools including CommCare and Kobo Toolbox
  • Knowledge of Google Earth Mapping
  • High experience in using networking, internet, and cloud storage applications
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Good English level.
  • High level of analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational and management skills.
  • Strong communication, analysis and writing skills.

Requirements (desired)

  • Information Engineering certificate is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Previous experience with Shelter projects at least one year
  • Good knowledge in GOAL’s working context area.
  • High level of attention to details.
  • Willingness to work long hours under signif
