Contract: Full-time, 35 hoursSalary: Up to £26,000 based on experienceLocation: Home-based in the Firth-of-Forth or East Lothian regionClosing: Sunday 13 March 2022Interviews: Week of 21 March 2022We are looking for you to join us in our amazing partnership project, Restoration Forth, which is aiming to restore seagrass and oyster reefs to the Firth of Forth area. Working closely with local communities, the restoration of these two species will enhance the coastal and marine environment of the Forth, support nature-based solutions to address climate change and create opportunities for local people to reconnect with the sea. Your part will be to join us as an Engagement Officer to support the delivery of outreach activities promoting the project and our wider campaigns and conservation goals. A variety of activities will bring the project to life for young people, adult learners, families or community groups and local businesses. You’ll be part of the programme design, and a key piece in its successful delivery.Your committed interest in communicating marine conservation will enthuse and motivate people to support the conservation aims. Our network of volunteers are our local ambassadors, they provide vital support for campaigns, conservation work, membership and fundraising initiatives, encouraging the active participation in enjoying and protecting the future of our seas, shores and wildlife.What you’ll need– Demonstrable experience of recruiting and working with volunteers- Strong organisational skills to deliver a range of events that happen smoothly and efficiently, and fit to the budget- The confidence to address groups in information or training sessions- The knowledge and ability to explain marine issues and concepts to a variety of audiences in innovative ways- A desire to inspire and educate young people and some skills or experience in delivering sessions tailored to them in a range of settingsGot what it takes?– The role is home-based so you will be independently motivated and have easy access to the region – confidence travelling and reliable and frequent access to transport- Excellent communication and presentation skills that inspire and engage including delivery of education sessions to young people- Able to manage the setting up/packing down of event equipment (e.g. gazebos, boxes of leaflets)Working with us: – Takes a people-centric approach, is a problem-solver and supports others- Enjoys working with a team of passionate advocates for our ocean and the environment- We are looking for people who share our values, but who also contribute their own perspectives and experiences to add to our knowledge and our cultureWhat we need to seeFor your motivation statement, we are looking for you to tell us how your experience meets the role requirements.
