(Senior) VMware System Engineer

Responsibilities:

As group IT service provider, the department provides all system and security related services out of Switzerland to the group entities. In this role you will be part of the VMware System Engineer team and be responsible for the operation and engineering of on premise ESXi infrastructure (including HW – servers and storage) and provide efficient and stable operations.

You will also take on other responsibilities such as:

• Responsible for the operation, maintenance and expansion of ESXi systems as well as their basic infrastructure (storage, hardware)
• Ensure proper life cycle management of the managed services
• Participate in the conception and implementation of projects as well as further development and optimization of the existing infrastructure
• Providing second level support within the existing support organization and responsibilities
• Support of the on-call organization as a member

Your profile:

To cope with the tasks, you have several years of experience in working in a similar role with focus on VMware and in the field of ESXi administration in large enterprises. Ideally you have a university degree in computer science, Information Systems (University of applied sciences, University) or equivalent education/further education in a related field. To get a valid work-permission for Switzerland a citizenship of one of the EFTA-states is mandatory.

In addition, you can demonstrate knowledge of the following points:

• Good knowledge in the area of Linux (RHEL) is required
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Hands-on mentality
• Fluent in English, German is a plus
