Summary of Position:
IREX seeks qualified Senior Technical Advisor (STA) candidates for an anticipated USAID-funded higher education activity in Jordan. This activity will aim to improve the performance of core functions by higher education institutions, including student-centered teaching and learning, research, and engagement; and supporting effective and sustainable collaboration among higher education institutions, industry, and government stakeholders to improve teaching and learning, research, and innovation. Based in Amman, the STA will support the Chief of Party in the management of the program and provide high-quality technical inputs to achieve program objectives.
Only citizens of Jordan or permanent residents with work authorization will be considered. Youth leaders strongly encouraged to apply. This position is contingent on funding.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise across program activities ensuring coordinated higher education institutional performance improvement and effective and sustainable collaboration among higher education institutions, industry, and government stakeholders to improve teaching and learning, research, and innovation.
- Direct capacity development of local Jordanian organization(s) to enable their independent receipt of donor funding for higher education institution performance improvement activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Jordanian citizenship or residency with work authorization is required
- A master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in Jordan working on programs focused on higher education or local organizational capacity development; supporting USAID / other international donor-funded programs preferred; or bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience also considered.
- Demonstrated technical expertise improving the performance of core functions by higher education institutions, including student-centered teaching and learning, research, and supporting effective and sustainable collaboration among higher education institutions, industry, and government stakeholders to improve teaching and learning, research, and innovation.
- Tangible results in building administrative and technical capacity of local organizations.
- Demonstrated success in establishing strong working relationships with higher education institutions, senior government officials, local educational organizations, industry, international donors, and other stakeholders.
- Proven experience building consensus among diverse actors.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including governments, private sector, higher educational institutions, NGOs, donors, etc.
- Strong representational and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English is required.
