Overview: DT Global is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor, Climate Adaptation and Resilience to join the Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) Practice. The Senior Technical Advisor will provide strategic advice and thought leadership to current and future programs and proposals managed by E&I and other practices as appropriate. This position will also be responsible for establishing best practices and standards for climate resilient programming and implementation across E&I sub-practice areas. The position will provide strategic technical advice to business development initiatives involving resilience and climate change adaptation and will support strategic planning and project execution within the E&I practice, contributing to strengthening client relations, capture processes, technical solution designs and public and private sector partnerships.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • In coordination with the E&I Vice President and the Senior Management Team, manage the long-term positioning of DT Global with key clients, including the development and maintenance of strong relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Enhance relations with key clients, particularly USAID, and represent DT Global at conferences, forums, and public engagements.
  • Lead new business efforts and interactions with USAID as applicable.
  • Participate in business development pipeline discussions to determine bids to pursue.
  • Contribute to capture efforts for bids including contacting potential partners, developing the project team, identifying key personnel, and other associated tasks.
  • Serve as technical writer for bids including developing and composing the technical approach for proposals, as well as write or review technical reports and materials for current projects.
  • Establish and regularly expand a roster of technical specialists and subject-matter experts in the areas of climate, environment, and infrastructure to support existing projects and business development.

Technical Excellence

  • Support technical project implementation, traveling to the field as required from time to time to provide technical guidance and support and client engagement.
  • Contribute to overall strategic vision and direction for overseeing implementation and expansion of the climate portfolio and strengthening DT Global’s reputation as a thought leader in climate adaptation and resilience services.
  • Establish partnerships with science and research institutions on climate analytics to bring tools and approaches for climate adaptation and resilience programing.
  • Elevate DT Global as a thought leader in climate-resilient programming by collaborating with the Communications team to produce articles, blog posts, and success stories highlight DT Global’s technical expertise.
  • Coordinate and/or lead technical trainings for staff to build skills and attain higher levels of competency and understanding of current trends and best practices in climate adaptation and resilience, applying lessons learned and experienced gained through field assignments.

Learning and Innovation

  • Build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels and across all practice areas through open communication and constructive feedback
  • Foster professional development and growth activities for staff at all levels in support of effective programming
  • Ensure DT Global’s learning agenda and innovation efforts are aligned with DT Global strategic goals

Minimum Qualifications and Education

  • Advanced degree in international development, environmental science, economics, climate science, sustainability, or a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of related professional experience in climate adaptation and resilience or environment sectors with demonstrated success in business development and implementation for those sectors
  • Experience contributing technical guidance to business development proposals, including assisting with strategic positioning, leading technical solution design, serving as a technical writer, leading strategic partner identification, and reviewing technical and overall quality of bids
  • Demonstrated experience writing successful technical proposals in climate change
  • Practical experience working with a range of development program partners, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, utilities, the private sector, NGOs, civil society, consumers, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems individually and as part of a team, while respecting individual team members’ roles, strengths, and communication styles
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to travel and work overseas on short term technical assignments up to 25%, at times with short notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in another language, preferably Spanish, French, or Arabic

DT Global provides competitive, market-based salaries along with a collection of comprehensive employee benefits and experiences to create an attractive total rewards package. The salary range for this position will start at $157,080. Salary offers are made based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, relevant education, certifications, skills, internal equity, market analysis, and business or organizational needs.

Eligible U.S. based employees will be able to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a 401K retirement plan with an employer contribution.
